Afrobeat is an evolving genre and every week, with new releases taking over the airwaves, we are hit with proof of its evolution. This week isn’t any different as West African artists have begun their next album rollout for the year 2022. One of such is Afro R&B singer, Simi who has blessed our ears with a new song titled Sare.
Another artist who has set the stone rolling on her next album is Asa who, ahead of her concert in May, has released the second single titled Ocean off her next album. We’ve curated the grooviest and trendiest new songs released this week to make your weekend a jolly one.

#1. Simi – Sare
There’s no better way for Simi to start off her career this year than this smash record which she calls Sare. After a short absence from the music scene, Simi appeared like she never left with this fine and exquisite studio number. The song displayed Simi’s unique light vocals with a clear intention of making her fans proud that she’s got them.
#2. Asa – Ocean
Nigerian singer, Asa just released a new song titled Ocean. Ahead of her concerts in Lagos and London, the serial hitmaker delivers a gear-up single for her fans. On Ocean, she collaborates with raving beatmaker P. Prime, to cook up the beautiful piece. The new single also serves as a pathway to her forthcoming project as Asa revealed earlier. The songstress stated in a recent interview that her forthcoming album, which is also her fifth studio album, will be titled Five and is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2022.
#3. KiDi ft. Tyga – Touch It Remix
Multiple award-winning Ghanaian singer, KiDi of Lynx Entertainment join forces with celebrated American Rapper, Tyga of Young Money to drop the remix of his mega-hit song Touch It. Tyga posted a video of his verse from the remix on his Instagram status which went viral on the Internet. Touch It Remix was produced by Richie Mensah and KiDi, and is expected to blow up like the original.
#4. Blaqbonez – Commander
Blaqbonez is on the long run as he begins his music adventure for the year with a commanding studio number, Commander. The jam is his first track off his upcoming studio body of work, Young Preacher album. Blaqbonez has promised his fans consistency this year and he is willing to start that new phase of his life by making this jam worthy for our listening pleasure.
#5. Skales ft. Zlatan and Krizbeats – Selese
Nigerian singer, Skales has released his new album titled Sweet Distractions. On this new extended playlist is the dance-worthy song, Selese. On Selese, hit producer Krizbeatz uses brooding synthesizers and patient piano, aided by the enchanting presence of Zlatan –the inventor of the zanku dance — to create a groovy song that’s sure to take over the airwaves this year.
