Brandy is reprising her role as Cinderella in the new “Descendants” film, “The Pocketwatch.” The singer is sliding on those glass slippers after giving audiences a remarkable performance as the character in the 1997 Disney film Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella.” The upcoming musical will follow Red (played by Kyle Cantrall), who is the rebellious teenage daughter of the Queen of Hearts, opposite Chloe (played by Mia Bakers), the cheerful but naive daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming, who cross paths at a momentous celebration in the kingdom of Auradon when unexpected chaos breaks out.

In order to prevent an impending coup, they must join forces to travel back in time, via a magical pocket watch created by the Mad Hatter’s son to stop an event that would have grave consequences. The film will also see Rita Ora join the cast, playing the Queen of Hearts. Her character is described as “withholding and tyrannical, ruling over the kingdom of Wonderland with an iron fist.”

2. Wizkid’s ‘More Love, Less Ego’ debuts on Billboard 200

Wizkid’s fifth album, “More Love, Less Ego” has made its first appearance on the Billboard 200. According to chart news platform Chart Data, “More Love, Less Ego” debuted on the Billboard 200 at number 59. The Billboard Hot 200 is a chart of the top-selling albums in the United States, and Wizkid enters the chart after selling 13,000 in its first week.

In the history of Afrobeats albums that have debuted on the chart, “More Love, Less Ego” falls second behind Burna Boy’s 6th album, “Love, Damini” which debuted at number 14 after selling 25,000 in its first week and becoming the highest charting Nigerian album on the chart. “More Love, Less Ego” joins Fireboy’s “Playboy” and Asake’s “Mr. Money With the Vibe” albums that debuted on Billboard 200 in 2022.

3. South Africa: A-Reece ‘respectfully’ withdraws from SA Hip Hop Awards nominations race

A few days after the nominees for the SA Hip Hop Awards were announced, rapper A-Reece left fans shocked by his decision to withdraw from the 11th annual awards. The news was announced by the SA Hip Hop Awards organizers in a statement posted on Twitter. “The South African Hip Hop would like to announce that South African rapper A-Reece has withdrawn from the 11th Annual South African Hip Hop Awards and will not be participating in the ceremony this year,” read the official statement.

In a statement, which was released through his newly launched record label, Revenge Club Records, he shed light on his decision to withdraw from the nominations. “Receiving recognition for your art will always be an honor. Be that as it may, we wish to formally decline all nominations received by our artists for the year 2022,” read the statement.

4. Raf Simons closes namesake fashion label after 27 years

Belgian designer Raf Simons has announced he is closing the fashion label that bears his name after 27 years of operation. Simons took to the social media platform Instagram to make the announcement, explaining that the brand’s latest Spring/Summer 2023 show in October at clubbing venue Printworks, London, would be it’s last. “The Spring/Summer 2023 collection is the conclusion of an extraordinary 27 year journey and the final season of the Raf Simons fashion brand,” said the 54-year-old designer in the Instagram post.

Simons gave no specific reason for closing the brand. He will continue to be co-creative director of Prada, the couture fashion house where he works alongside Miuccia Prada, a post that he has held since February 2020.

5. Man Utd confirm Cristiano Ronaldo is set to leave club by mutual agreement with immediate effect

Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Manchester United with immediate effect after reaching a mutual agreement with the Red Devils. Man Utd has announced Ronaldo will leave the club in the wake of the explosive interview where he criticized the club and manager Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils initially responded by confirming they had “initiated appropriate steps” in response to the interview and have now announced they have parted ways with the Portugal player.

Ronaldo’s exit comes as no surprise, as his situation at the club looked untenable, particularly after he declared he did not respect Ten Hag. The Red Devils’ decision to wave goodbye to Ronaldo means they have now backed the Dutchman over the Portuguese superstar. Man Utd will now look to move on from what has been an unsavory episode, while Ronaldo is searching for his fourth club in just over four years. Brandy Cinderella
