aris-born Nigerian fashion journalist, stylist and now editor Dimeji Alara has been considered by many to be a fashion prodigy for many reasons including: his witty style of writing, a great eye for fashion, his distinct styling and of course for being not just the first black male to be the Fashion Editor of Elle South Africa but also the first non-South African to take on that position in the magazine’s twenty years of running.
For someone so young, his portfolio is so inspiring. Being a fashion editor, Dimeji Alara’s style totally fits his role. His signature style is quite interesting: colourfully casual yet understated. Very few men can mix colours and textures the way Dimeji does without looking tacky yet he does it all so effortlessly. He favours simplistic yet stylish looks that always have him looking weekend-ready. His style is all the inspiration you need for days off work and any day at work that you choose to let your style guard down.
Here’s a peek at Dimeji Alara’s urbane off-duty style…
