International brands like Fashion Nova are pushing their market across the Atlantic to reach new markets like Nigeria. One of the ways they are approaching this is by collaborating with celebrities thus, using their influence to reach their target audience. Targeting young Nigerian men, Fashion Nova tapped ‘Say Bye Bye’ crooner and Ain’t Nobody Badder Than – ANBT founder, Ycee to help penetrate Africa’s biggest market.
Since the start of the collaboration, the 28-year-old’s style game has evolved quite a bit. The rapper has been spotted slaying in trendy designs ranging from T-shirts to track pants to matching shorts sets. Born Oludemilade Martin Alejo, Ycee also seems to have taken to Fashion Nova’s fanny packs as he’s made it one of his signature accessories.
Between an increasing number of brands expanding their e-commerce/online shopping segment and many brands using celebrities and influencers for fast-tracked collaborations, social media marketing has been making a huge impact on brand sales globally. It will be interesting to see how other international brands will collaborate with Nigerian and other African celebrities and influencers as they expand into fresh African markets.
