Wizkid Links With Justin Bieber For Essence Remix + More Afrobeats To Vibe To This Weekend

This past decade, Afrobeats has made waves internationally much more than usual. The trajectory doubled in 2020 and 2021 with releases from Nigerian artists getting immediate international recognition. Wizkid essence remix.

The second half of 2021 seems to be an even better period, especially for Wizkid who has just released a remix of his internationally charting Tems-assisted song, Essence. This remix features  Grammy winner, Justin Bieber. Afrobeats to the world doesn’t seem like just a chant anymore.

#1. Wizkid ft. Tems and Justin Bieber – Essence remix

Wizkid keeps the summer vibes coming. Following his surprise announcement yesterday, August 12, the star drops the remix to his Tems-assisted hit Essence featuring Justin Bieber. The Peaches singer adds his star power to the feel-good track, which Bieber declared the “song of the summer.” The original song, which is currently No. 54 on the Billboard Hot 100, appears on Wizkid’s album Made in Lagos.

#2. Yemi Alade – Sweety

Acclaimed vocalist Yemi Alade has finally dropped her 7-track EP Queendoncom a week after releasing the lead single of the project. On the EP is Sweety, a song which is fast reaffirming her place as Mama Africa. On Sweety, Yemi brings back her signature lyricism that makes her loved across Africa.

Nigerian Disc Jockey, Oyidi Yusuf Tunde, popularly known as DJ Voyst, has released a new song titled Felicitation featuring talented popstar Joeboy. The two-minute song sees the Empawa frontline artiste, Joeboy flex his melodious muscles on the beat, delivering a smashing tune in return.

#4. Oxlade – Ojuju

Oxlade released a new song called Ojuju, which keep the Nigerian-born star’s signature lush delivery and deep lyrics intact. On the soulful afrobeat track, Oxlade expresses how tired of love he is and also wonders how the rest of us do it. He is “fed up” with falling again.

#5. Omawumi ft. Phyno – My life

Nigerian vocal powerhouse, Omawumi comes through with a brand new Phyno-assisted song, My Life from her latest album Love Deep High Life. My life is a song about one’s lifestyle and advices outsiders to stay out of people’s lives. On this new album, Omawumi lets us know she’s going nowhere.
