Usher is finally getting his time to shine on the biggest day in sports after being named the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show performer. The news broke Sunday, September 24, as mounting pleas from fans renewed demands for the legendary crooner to take his rightful place among music’s legends who have pulled off the feat. The Super Bowl is taking place on February 11, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Allegiant Stadium. The halftime show is presented by Apple Music.

“It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before,” said the iconic performer in a released statement. “Thank you to the fans and everyone who made this opportunity happen. I’ll see you real soon.” The eight-time Grammy Award winner previously graced the halftime show stage in 2011 when he popped in to perform “OMG” during the Black Eyed Peas’ futuristic set.

His singles and projects have been dominating music streaming platforms in Nigeria since his sudden death.

His songs “Peace,” “Feel Good,” “Ask About Me,” and “Beast and Peace” are among the top 10 songs on Apple Music Nigeria. He topped the Spotify Nigeria singles chart with “Ask About Me.” His EP, “Blessed,” also entered the top 20 on the UK Apple music albums chart.

In one of her first public appearances since a trio of former dancers filed a lawsuit accusing her of turning a blind eye to toxic working conditions, Lizzo took the stage at Thursday night’s (Sept. 21) 2023 Black Music Action Coalition gala to receive the night’s final honor: the BMAC Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award. The event was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

The award was presented by the Big Grrrls from Lizzo’s Emmy-winning reality show, “Watch Out For the Big Grrrls,” just hours after the singer was hit with the latest lawsuit from a former employee, this one alleging sexual and racial harassment, disability discrimination, and illegal retaliatory termination. The suit from Special Tour clothing designer Asha Daniels filed in L.A. Superior Court named Lizzo, along with tour manager Carlina Gugliotta and the Big Grrrl Touring company, as defendants. It’s the second such lawsuit in two months, alleging sexual and racial harassment.

5. Marcus Rashford left ‘shaken’ after crashing £700,000 Rolls Royce following Man Utd’s victory

Marcus Rashford was involved in a car crash following Manchester United’s victory over Burnley on Saturday evening. While returning from Turf Moor following his side’s 1-0 win, Rashford is reported to have crashed his vehicle, a Rolls Royce worth around £700,000 ($856,000). According to reports, the forward escaped serious injury, though he was left “shaken” by the incident.

Footage on social media appeared to show Rashford’s car with a sizeable dent in the side. The images suggest that the vehicle may have collided at speed with a nearby traffic island. Police are understood to have been called to the scene, but no ambulance was required and no arrests were made. It’s also said that Bruno Fernandes stopped to help after discovering the scene on his own journey away from Carrington. Neither Rashford nor United have commented publicly on the situation as of yet.
