This is a makeup technique where a base layer of makeup is applied before the final look. A case where other products come first before the foundation. The steps include applying a contour, blush, and bronzer before your foundation to create a flawless and natural glow. This technique is trending on TikTok because it allows for a seamless and natural-looking final look.

I love using underpainting makeup because it helps my final look appear effortless. Less is often more when it comes to makeup. It also allows me to build upon the base layer, creating a look that is both glamorous and long-lasting. With underpainting makeup, I can achieve a flawless, red-carpet-ready look that will turn heads. And the best part is, it’s easy to do and can be achieved at home with minimal effort.

How to achieve underpainting makeup effortlessly…

#1. Prep

First, I start by prepping my skin by cleaning it with a cleanser, moisturizing it with my super amazing Neutrogena moisturizer, and applying a primer. I use Lakme 9-5 primer because of my oily skin. This helps smooth out any fine lines and wrinkles. It creates a smooth canvas for my makeup to adhere to.

#2. Conceal, contour, and blush

Next, I use my concealer to spot-correct any areas that may need more coverage using a beauty blender or a brush. I make sure to blend it well and pay extra attention to areas that may need more coverage, like under-eye circles, blemishes, or redness. This step is important, as it helps create a flawless base for the final look. I apply it under my eyes, on my forehead, chin, and atop my jawline, and blend it well.

Then I apply my contour below my cheekbones, the upper parts of my forehead, and the sides of my nose. Then apply blush on my cheeks, bronzer on my cheeks, and the center of my nose.

#3. The Foundation

Finally, I set my underpainting with a thin line of foundation and translucent setting powder to ensure that my makeup stays in place throughout the day. This step is important as it ensures the final look stays put and that it doesn’t smudge or crease. Remember that the foundation must not be too obvious, because that defeats the whole aim of underpainting makeup.

This makeup trend is not just easy to achieve, but also versatile. You can use this technique to create various looks, like a natural, everyday look, a glamorous look, or a bold and colorful take.

Why everyone is talking about the underpainting makeup trend

One of the main benefits of underpainting makeup is that it helps conceal imperfections and uneven skin tone. Applying contour, blush, and bronzer before a thin layer of foundation helps smoothen the surface of the skin, hiding blemishes, dark circles, and other imperfections. This results in a pleasing appearance.

Underpainting makeup also helps extend the wear time of the makeup. Because the concealer or contour creates a barrier between the skin and the rest of the makeup, it helps prevent the makeup from melting or smudging. This means the makeup will stay in place longer, reducing the need for touch-ups throughout the day.

Another benefit of underpainting makeup is that it helps create a natural look. Applying a thin layer of the foundation after concealer results in a seamless and natural-looking finish that appears as if the makeup is not even there.

Finally, underpainting makeup helps enhance the overall glamor and beauty of your makeup by creating an even base for the rest of the makeup to be applied to accentuate the eyes, lips, and other features. This results in a more striking and glamorous appearance that will turn heads.

The underpainting makeup trend is a fantastic way to elevate your makeup game and create a polished and glamorous final look. So, what are you waiting for? Give it a try and see for yourself!
