1. Tyla graces the cover of British Vogue

South African music sensation Tyla has added another milestone to her skyrocketing career, gracing the cover of British Vogue’s March 2025 issue. At just 23, the “Water” hitmaker has already made history as the first African artist to achieve a billion streams on Spotify for a solo song. Photographed by Rafael Pavarotti and styled by George Krakowiak, the cover shoot features Tyla in high-fashion looks from top designers, including Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, and Balenciaga. In an exclusive interview with British Vogue contributing editor Funmi Fetto, Tyla reflected on her journey, describing how her global success has shaped her into a bolder, more confident artist.

The cover reveal was a moment of surprise and excitement for Tyla, who first saw it on The Jennifer Hudson Show. “Guys, it’s insane, like Vogue?” she exclaimed, visibly overwhelmed by the milestone. British Vogue teased the feature on social media, calling Tyla “music’s most intoxicating new mononym” and highlighting her impact on fashion, dance, and pop culture. With her signature blend of amapiano and pop, now dubbed “popiano,” Tyla continues to captivate audiences worldwide. As she prepares for the next chapter in her career, her Vogue cover cements her status as a global star redefining the music and fashion landscape.

2. Kamala Harris signs with top talent and sports agency CAA

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has signed with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA), marking one of her first public moves since leaving office. The powerhouse agency, known for representing high-profile figures in politics, entertainment, and sports, will work closely with Harris on her post-White House initiatives. According to a statement shared with The Hill, CAA aims to expand Harris’ platform in support of the key issues she has championed throughout her career. Her decision follows a similar move by former President Joe Biden, who signed with the agency shortly after his term ended.

In addition to advocacy work, CAA will assist Harris in securing speaking engagements and publishing opportunities. This week, she is set to make her first televised appearance since leaving office as she receives the Chairman’s Award at the NAACP Image Awards. The honor recognizes individuals who excel in public service and use their platforms to drive meaningful change.

3. Ayra Starr becomes first woman in 16 years to win best African act at MOBO Awards 2025

Nigerian music sensation Ayra Starr has made history as the first woman in 16 years to win the Best African Music Act at the 2025 MOBO Awards. The prestigious event, held in Newcastle and hosted by Indiyah Polack and Eddie Kadi, celebrated the best of Black music and culture. Two years after tying the knot, Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles and her NFL star husband Jonathan Owens have finally embarked on their long-awaited honeymoon in South Africa. The couple touched down in Mzansi and wasted no time immersing themselves in the country’s breathtaking wildlife and scenery. Sharing moments from their trip on social media, Biles excitedly captioned a post, “Made it to South Africa,” marking the beginning of their romantic getaway.

The couple have been soaking up every moment, from feeding elephants to embarking on thrilling safari game drives where they spotted lions, leopards, and rhinos in their natural habitat. Their shared posts have given fans a glimpse into their adventure-filled retreat, highlighting their joy and appreciation for South Africa’s rich wildlife. With each update, the couple continues to inspire wanderlust, turning their honeymoon into a memorable celebration of love and exploration.

5. Jude Bellingham banned for two matches

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has been handed a two-match suspension following his controversial red card during Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Osasuna. The England international was dismissed in the first half after allegedly directing foul language at referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero. While Bellingham denied insulting the official, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) ruled that his behavior displayed a “disdainful attitude” and imposed the minimum penalty of a two-game ban. Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti defended his player, arguing that the red card was a misunderstanding, but the club’s appeal for an overturn was unsuccessful.

As a result of the suspension, Bellingham will miss crucial La Liga fixtures against Girona on February 23 and Real Betis on March 2. His absence is a significant blow for Madrid as they continue their title push. However, before the ban takes effect, Bellingham remains available for selection in Real Madrid’s Champions League clash against Manchester City, where the Spanish giants hold a narrow 3-2 aggregate lead. The incident has sparked debate about refereeing decisions in La Liga, with the RFEF also issuing a statement in support of Munuera Montero.
