New York Fashion Week was exciting! I would know because I had a front row seat to Vogue Runway right in front of my computer. LOL!
The designers were brilliant and the collections captivating! While a few trends like the grandma table-cloth florals, the 70s’ plaid and you’ll be surprised to know, the ankle bracelet trend were a complete no-no for me, many others had my two thumbs up.
Here they are:
FISHNETS 
Started out late last year as an Instagram / pop-culture trend and made its way to the catwalk in 2017. Yes to lingerie as outerwear. And if you’re asking, DOUBLE yes, it’s “Wear in Nigeria” appropriate.
FLASH DANCE SLEEVES
I like to think of them as a product of the evolution of the off-shoulder trend.
WIDE BELTS
For those of you who miss the “abortion belt” trend, here’s a chicer and subtler version.
POWER RED
What other colour could have a more daring and sophisticated effect?
COLOUR ME YELLOW
If there are 50 shades of grey, the same applies to yellow. Pick a hue that most suits your features.
ROBES
One of my favorite trends, cheers to all the sleep queens who always want to take a piece of their bedroom where ever they go.
PIN STRIPES
This trend is beginning to grow on me, I love how versatile it’s become now compared to back in the day.
BEACH STRIPES
Clearly I’m not a big fan of stripes but I love the beach and I love how sometimes fashion always meets you in the middle. Plus these stripes are perfect for creating the illusion of height.
CORSETS
I bet you have been dying to try this out since Kylie and Kim right? Yeah, me too! Well, here’s our chance.
FOLDOVERS
The days of fashion being called shallow is so over as the fashion world has finally embraced folds as fashionable.
BOLD SASHES
Who says sashes are only for beauty queens and real life queens? They’ve got a thing or two to learn from NYFW.
ONE SHOULDER CUT-OUT
Ever got into a fight and had one of your sleeves ripped off? Me neither! This trend says tough and unashamed. What’s not to love?
SLITTED SLEEVES
It’s about time, at the rate at which thigh high slits were going, it’s no surprise fashion has found the next best place to insert a long slit.
WHITE SHIRT DRESS
I have a whole bunch of these in my wardrobe, nothing says chic, pristine, clean, elegant and minimalist the way this does. Plus they never, ever got out of style.
