hose of us who spend ample time watching celebs know that nothing brings them out quite like a sophisticated event, and last week had a good lineup of those. From The Color Purple world premiere to the British Fashion Awards, black stars rendered glam in elevated beauty codes that reiterated their genius. Chic, edgy, and inspiringly creative, celebs strutted the red carpets in such trending hairstyles and makeup looks that were difficult to ignore.

But for Ciara, it’s the time to major in on your style prowess, debunking the idea that a style star takes breaks. At The Color Purple world premiere last week, the expectant mom walked the carpet in a white ethereal set accompanied by a pristine face beat. Featuring smokey eyes enlivened with gold eyeshadow and glossy lips, the look announced the hitmaker as a certified beauty guru who never drops the slay ball. 

It’s the season of festivities, and red lipstick is an uber-glam way to celebrate in style. After all, a few colors do well to up the ante as this one. But if you ever doubted the necessity of your crimson lipstick this season, Halle Bailey is here to clear those doubts. For The Color Purple premiere, the actress/singer showed up and out in a cherry red lipstick that played up the sassiness of her voluminous red maxi number. She completed the doll-up with soft brows, neutral-toned eyeshadow, and witchy lashes, adding an understated elegance to the dreamy coordination. 

Hair

This year has seen retro looks dominate the beauty conversation, evident in the resurrection of old trends. At the British Fashion Awards, celebrity model, Winnie Harlow was refreshingly modern in a trending mullet hairstyle that was equal parts chic and edgy.
