From Nigeria to Ghana, Senegal to South Africa, African musicians are making sure that 2020 is off to a banging start as they keep the radio waves humming and our feet gyrating. This week, we have compiled some of the hottest trending African songs by top artists from across the continent.

Just in time for the season of love, Korede Bello makes a come back with his debut single for 2020 titled Sun Momi. Senegalese-American singer, songwriter, record producer, actor, entrepreneur and philanthropist Akon, teams up with Salaam Remi Gibbs, an American record producer as they give us One Time.

Whether you are chilling at home or going about town this weekend, these songs will definitely keep things jivey.

Here are 5 of the latest trending African songs you need to catch up on…

1. Salaam Remi, Akon – One Time

While we wait for the collaborative dancehall EP later this year by Akon and Salaam Remi, we are once more reminded of Akon’s signature vocals on the One Time reggae-tinged track. The track from the Do It For The Culture compilation is catchy and the chorus will make you sway along.

2. Mafikizolo – Ngeke Balunge

Consistency is one of the few reasons why we love the South African music duo, Mafikizolo. For their next album project, the award-winning duo has released the video to their Afro-pop single Ngeke Balunge. The song tells the story of an African Romeo and Juliet who, no matter what happens around them, always find their way back to each other.

3. Rudeboy – Take It

After releasing the audio of Take It, Rudeboy comes out with a badass video featuring BBNaija’s Pepper Dem winner, Mercy Eke. Honestly, if we didn’t Take It before, Rudeboy has made sure that we will take it with this video! Get your cards ready to start shopping after this!

4. Shatta Wale – The Ban

The Shatta Movement Empire Boss and one of Africa’s dancehall kings, Shatta Wale comes through with a single titled The Ban. The song is a diss track aimed at Charter House, the organizers of the Ghana Music Awards, after banning him once more from participating this year, after last year’s incident involving Stonebwoy.

5. Korede Bello – Sun Momi

Seeing the graphics on this makes me feel like the boy is now a man! For his debut single in 2020, Korede Bello sings to the love of life telling her she is the only one in Sun Momi which literally translates to Only You.
