Tonto Dikeh’s 35th birthday celebration seems to not be over yet as she has been gifted a Mercedes Benz car. Tonto Dikeh who turned 35 on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, celebrated her birthday with a series of pictures on her social media. She later on shared videos of her new car.

According to Tonto Dikeh, the Mercedes Benz C300 4matic was a 35th birthday gift from a close friend and the second car gift she’s received for her birthday. It didn’t end there as she went on to reveal that the new car is the sixth of her garage collection.

2. Ghana’s COVID-19 cases hit 9,910

Two hundred and seventy-two (272) new cases of the coronavirus disease – which has increased the daily positive test rate from 3.8% to 15.9% – has pushed Ghana’s total case count to 9,910. Data from the Ghana Health Service on Monday, June 8, showed that the country has also recorded nine new recoveries, bringing the total to 3,645.

Four new deaths have also been recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 48. The active cases are now 6,217.

3. South Africa: SANTACO vow to hold taxi shutdown if they don’t receive relief funding

The Gauteng branch of SANTACO has pledged to embark on a total shutdown should they not receive relief support from the government.

The South African National Taxi Association (SANTACO) in Gauteng has vowed to stage a shutdown of their services on 22 June should the government not announce that they will benefit from the various relief funding available to other affected sectors of society due to COVID-19.

The association also said that it would scrap the proposed fare hike that would have seen commuters in the province paying R60 a day for their return trips instead of R22, and have instead agreed on a lower fare increase that will be announced on Friday 12 June.

4. George Floyd has been laid to rest today in Houston

George Floyd, whose death sparked worldwide protests, has been laid to rest on Tuesday, next to his mother Larcenia Floyd.

Bail has been set at $1.25m for the former Minneapolis police officer who pinned George Floyd to the ground with his knee for nearly nine minutes as the unarmed Black man pleaded for air.

US congressional Democrats unveiled a sweeping package of legislation to combat police violence and racial injustice after two weeks of protests across the nation sparked by Floyd’s death.

5. N’Golo Kante resumes full contact training at Chelsea after coronavirus fears

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has resumed full contact training having trained alone because of his concerns about contracting coronavirus.

Kante, 29, was initially allowed to train from home while his team-mates returned to limited training at Cobham. He returned to train on his own at Cobham at the end of last month.

The French player caused concern among team-mates in 2018 when he fainted after a training session. His brother died of a heart attack the same year.
