Today Is World Cancer Day 2020: Themed “I Am And I Will”

A fashion and culture enthusiast who's really a food loving…
Each year, on February 4th, organizations and people around the world unite to raise awareness about cancer and work towards making it a global health priority. World Cancer Day was founded by the Union for International Cancer Control to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration.
According to the American Cancer Society, “an estimated 9.5 million people worldwide were expected to die from cancer in 2018 – about 26,000 cancer deaths a day – and that number is predicted to grow.” That’s more than the numbers for HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.

The theme for World Cancer Day 2020 is “I am and I will.” This theme encourages everyone to share their personal commitment to reduce the impact of cancer for themselves, the people they love and the world. According to the World Health Organization, at least one-third of all cancer cases are preventable. Another third can be cured if detected early and treated properly. Lifestyle changes such as, not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, keeping active and eating right can prevent certain types of cancer.
