Nollywood actor, Lateef Oladimeji has been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree in the field of art and culture from Benin Republic University. The actor announced his latest feat on his Instagram page on Tuesday, November 28, penning an emotional piece in his caption. The video posted captured the inspiring moment when the actor was dubbed with honor by representatives of the higher institution, recognizing his contributions to his field.

His caption read, “I was moved to tears as I got adorned in this beautiful robe. I have never been interested in fame, I just wanted to be happy with my craft and the lives that I inspire. Ladies and gentlemen, today, I have a new title, one I couldn’t have imagined would come without me facing invigilators and keeping late nights to study…” Lateef went on to acknowledge the great honor he received, noting it as the fruit of his labor for his dedication and hard work in his field.

3. South Africa: Tyla’s ‘Water’ breaks into the Billboard 100 top 10

Tyla’s hit song, “Water,” continues to climb the global charts. This week, the hit song broke into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart just one month after the single became her first hit on the chart. Tyla breaks the record for the highest-charting solo song by an African female artist on Billboard after 56 years, officially surpassing “Pata Pata” by Miriam Makeba. This comes after the singer was nominated for her first Grammy Award.

4. André 3000 sets Billboard Hot 100 record with ‘New Blue Sun’ track

On Tuesday, November 28, Billboard revealed that a song from André 3000’s debut album, “New Blue Sun,” set a surprising chart record. The album’s opener, “I Swear, I Really Wanted to Make a ‘Rap’ Album but This Is Literally the Way the Wind Blew Me This Time,” is now the longest single to appear on the Hot 100 after entering at No. 90. At 12 minutes and 20 seconds, said track managed to beat out the previous record holder, Tool’s “Fear Inoculum,” a 2019 release with a 10-minute, 21-second runtime. Taylor Swift‘s “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” now sits in third place at 10 minutes and 13 seconds.

Released earlier this month, “New Blue Sun” came with eight songs, all of which were created by André with a variety of wind instruments. Producer Carlos Niño, keyboardist Surya Botofasina, guitarist Nate Mercereau, and more contributed to the ambient, jazzy body of work. What “New Blue Sun” did not come with were any words.

5. Manuel Neuer signs new Bayern Munich deal until 2025

Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer has signed a new deal to stay with the Bundesliga champions until 2025. The 37-year-old returned to the team in October after 10 months out, having broken his right leg on a skiing trip. Neuer has won 11 league titles and is approaching 500 appearances for the German club. “I’m happy to be staying at FC Bayern for another year. After my long injury, I’m back in full swing,” Neuer said. “It’s immense fun for me to be on the pitch with this team. I’m sure that, together with the fans, we can achieve our big goals in the coming years – and obviously, the 2025 Champions League final in Munich is one of them.”
