TikTok’s Sunset Blush Trend Is A Magical Take On Summer Beauty

Close your eyes, and let’s imagine. See the magical gradient of a setting sun in warm hues of orange, pink, and red accompanying you in a whimsical charm as you head out this summer. But this needs more than just imagination. With TikTok’s latest beauty trend, the sunset blush, you can leverage this pretty combination of warm tones to sizzle up your makeup routine this summer.

The sunset blush trend entered the beauty conversation thanks to beauty creator,  Alissa Janay. Back in April, she posted a TikTok video (which now has over 8.7 million views) where she applies dots of two bright shades of liquid blush, a swipe of liquid highlighter, and blends it all together. The final look is downright dreamy, little wonder it went viral with beauty enthusiasts around the world taking a go at the trend.

So far, one of the biggest selling points of the Sunset Blush is its flexibility. It’s versatile enough to be adjusted to suit a plethora of tastes and complexions. Simply put, whether you boast deep, rich melanin or a lighter skin tone, this trend can be adjusted to fit your glorious complexion and preferences. So how can you achieve the sunset blush look if going warm and dreamy is on your to-do list for summer?

  • Begin with a clean face, as this is the foundation on which everything else is built.
  • Next, apply your foundation and concealer, making sure to blend for a flawless finish.
  • Now, time for the sunset blush. Grab two cream blushes: a hot pink and an orange shade. You can use any brand you prefer, but make sure the blushes are creamy to encourage a flawless blend. Also, get your liquid highlighter.
  • To achieve this, apply the hot pink blush to the highest point of your cheeks (the apples of your cheeks). Use a minuscule amount, like a dot, for the best results. Blend it outwards towards your hairline. You want to create a soft flush, not a bright pink spot.
  • Next, take the orange blush and apply two dots of it right underneath the pink one. It might look a little weird at first, but it’s going to come together. Blend the orange outward, making sure it’s nice and subtle.
  • Then, add a swipe of liquid highlighter at the center of the two blushes, and blend to bring a hint of shine to your sunset blush look.
  • Now, blend. Use your finger, a beauty blender, or a brush to blend, blend, blend! You want the blushes to merge to create that sunset effect, and the highlighter to bring just the right amount of shimmer. The final result should be soft and natural-looking, not an obvious sight.

  • Finally, hold it all together with a setting spray. Voila, you’re good to go!

The key to nailing the sunset blush look is blending and subtlety. Don’t be afraid to experiment and find the right shades and techniques that work for you.
