A fashion and pop culture writer who watches a lot…
Arise Fashion Week 2019 took off on Friday, April 19 with a good number of emerging and eminent brands showcasing their designs on what’s been hailed as “the most beautiful runway in Africa.” The venue was the Lagos Continental Hotel in Victoria Island as Bethany Williams made another case for sustainable fashion.
The eponymous brand founded by Queen Elizabeth II prize for design winner, Bethany Williams has always tabled environmental friendly pieces as far back as we can remember. This season, we see the British brand celebrate waste materials in honour of the environment as they used recyclable and organic materials. The result is refreshingly edgy streetwear with high moral standards.
The deconstructed denim pieces in the collection were made with recycled Peruvian wool just like the knitwear pieces and the hand embroidered patterns on some of the pieces.
Bethany Williams’ Arise Fashion Week 2019 presentation consciously took fashion and recycling to new heights and broke boundaries and convinces us that when it comes to fashion on the streets, recycling is the new cool.

It would have been easier for us to simply upload images of the collections that showed at the Arise Fashion Week 2019, but you deserve more than that. So we’re still on task, reviewing our favourite collections as shown by emerging and eminent brands.
