Sony Announces Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man 4’ Release Date

After years of speculation, Sony Pictures has officially confirmed the release date for Spider-Man 4, set to premiere on July 24, 2026. Fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Tom Holland returns as their beloved webslinger, with Destin Daniel Cretton, director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, taking the helm.

The announcement is no surprise to longtime fans of the franchise. The previous installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, was a monumental success, shattering box office records as the seventh highest-grossing film of all time.

Despite the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, No Way Home raked in an impressive $1.95 billion globally, with $814.8 million from the domestic box office, making it the third highest-grossing film ever at domestic box offices. Its mind-bending multiverse storyline and iconic villain team-up left fans eagerly anticipating what’s next.

“Next summer, we start shooting. Everything’s good to go. We’re nearly there,” Tom Holland said of the upcoming Spider-Man 4 during a recent appearance on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “It’s super exciting. I can’t wait!” In a separate appearance on Good Morning America, he teased, “The idea is crazy. It’s a little different from anything we’ve done before, but I think the fans are going to really respond to it.”

While plot details remain under wraps, the timing of this untitled Spider-Man project is strategic. The film is set to debut just two months after Avengers: Doomsday, which premieres on May 1, 2026. The story’s direction is unclear, especially since No Way Home concluded with the world forgetting that teenager Peter Parker is Spider-Man, including his love interest, MJ (Zendaya). The script is being penned by No Way Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, with Marvel head Kevin Feige and former Sony head Amy Pascal producing.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Appearances

Counting No Way Home, Holland has previously headlined two other Spider-Man films, both directed by Jon Watts: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). He also appeared in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Together, Holland’s three Spider-Man films have grossed an impressive $3.96 billion.

Adding to the excitement, Holland was recently announced as a star in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming feature alongside Matt Damon, which is set to release on July 17, 2026. This means Holland will truly dominate the big screen in the summer of 2026.
