Southern Gents X Deyemi Okanlawon: Layering Up With Authority | Men’s Style

Deyemi Okanlawon

Deyemi Okanlawon, star of the recently released Nollywood blockbuster “Dinner teamed up with the US-based site, Southern Gents for a fashion spread where he schooled style faithfuls on how to layer up in style and with authority.

We recently gave you the basics of layering and you’ll see that Deyemi Okanlawon nailed every look in this shoot by styling a grey 3-piece suit in multiple ways as this was the focus of the shoot.

When it’s bright and sunny out, he wears a black Henley top with blue denim and the grey vest from the central suit set. For added flair, he accessorizes with a newsboy hat, lapel pin and sunshade to keep the sun at bay.

Once the evening moves in, the weather gets cooler so he swaps the grey vest for a light wool-blend coat and grey pants from the central suit set. He compliments the look with a laid-back, no sock look in patent loafers but you’ve got to gauge the temperature to decide whether going sock-less is a wise move.

Depending on where you’re headed, who you’re trying to impress or the style direction you’re shooting for, throw on a Fedora to prove just how confident you are in your style.

If you have any formal or semi-formal meeting sometime during the day or evening, pull out every piece of the three-piece suit and style the hell out of them. Remember you’re aiming for the perfect balance of a businessman look with the confidence of Denzel Washington and the suaveness of Davidson Petit-Frere. A white-collar shirt and a stylish tie will seal this look with the stamp of perfection.

And how do you make sure everyone at the table knows your ranking when it comes to the game of style? By throwing on a pork-pie hat! Remember to take the hat off as soon as you walk into the room but only after you’re pretty sure everyone’s gotten a good look at your whole ensemble. LOL!
