Sheryl Lee Ralph is wrapping her year up on a high note as she was awarded the Order of Jamaica on Monday. The Emmy-award-winning actress shared a photo from the ceremony with the caption, “Well, it is now official! I am The Honorable Sheryl Lee Ralph OJ.” “Warrior Woman,” the actress ended the caption before adding the Jamaican flag emoji. In addition to Ralph, the ceremony also honored 143 notable Jamaicans, including recording artist Agent Sasco and jazz pianist Monty Alexander.

The prestigious honor is ranked fourth in the order of precedence in Jamaica, and is awarded to “any Jamaican citizen of outstanding distinction or upon any distinguished citizen of a country other than Jamaica (honorary member).” Members of the Order are styled “Honourable” and are entitled to place the letters “OJ” after their name. The motto of the Order is “For a Covenant of the People.” This comes off the heels of her huge Emmy win last month, winning Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and becoming the second Black woman to do so, following Jackee Harry.

To qualify to become a member of the voting academy, such an individual must have creative or technical credits on at least six commercially released tracks on a physical music release or 12 on a digital album. An individual who falls short of these requirements may still apply to become a voting member with the endorsement of at least two current Recording Academy voting members. 4. Kenya’s capital unveils first electric-powered bus

Swedish technology start-up Roam has begun piloting electric buses in Nairobi, Kenya. For the next 12 months, the company will provide commuter services between the central business district and the city’s outskirts. To begin with, Roam has unveiled one bus that can ferry 77 passengers. It will be the first electric-powered bus to operate in Nairobi, a city of more than four million people. It aims to bring on board a total of 100 buses within two years, to be operated by a local provider and the Nairobi city authorities.

The launch is seen as part of a plan by the Kenyan government to launch a Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system in the capital. Roam says it is in the final stages of the tendering process which, if successful, will see it supply electric buses for the project.

5. Mason Greenwood granted bail over attempted rape and assault charges

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has been granted bail after a private hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester. On Monday, Greenwood was remanded in custody after appearing in court on suspicion of attempted rape, assault, and repeatedly engaging in coercive and controlling behavior.

A spokesperson for the court said bail had been granted with conditions not to contact the witnesses and to reside at an address on Bow Green Road in Bowdon. Greenwood was absent from the hearing and will appear again in court on November 21. Greenwood was initially arrested in January before being released on bail. On Saturday, he was arrested again for breaching his bail conditions and subsequently charged by prosecutors.

The attempted rape is alleged to have occurred in October 2021 and the assault in December 2021. The controlling and coercive behavior relates to a period between November 2018 and October 2022. All three charges are related to the same woman. Manchester United has confirmed that Greenwood will remain suspended until a final outcome in the case is reached.
