Nigerian music mogul Don Jazzy has squashed rumors of a split between Mavin Records and Afrobeats star Rema. Recent weeks saw speculation that Rema had left both Mavin and its affiliate label Jonzing World, co-owned by Don Jazzy’s brother D’Prince. Don Jazzy took to social media in a move widely interpreted as addressing the rumors. He posted a picture featuring himself, Rema, and Mavin’s COO Tega Oghenejobo, with the caption “Mavins in Paris.” This post came just days after Rema’s performance at the Yardland Festival in Paris on July 7, sharing the stage with other Nigerian artists like Odumodublvck.
Fans had become concerned after social media posts from Rema hinted at friction with the label. Don Jazzy’s photo, however, strongly suggests Rema remains a core member of the Mavin Records family, putting an end to talk of his departure.

Former Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has announced his retirement from professional football. The 33-year-old Spaniard made the announcement via social media on Monday, following his departure from Liverpool at the end of his contract. Thiago’s career spanned 15 years and saw him earn an impressive array of silverware. He was a key figure in two Champions League victories, one with Barcelona in 2011 and another with Bayern Munich in 2020. Indeed, he enjoyed immense success, winning a combined eight league titles across his stints with Barcelona and Bayern Munich. His time in England, however, was hampered by injuries. After joining Liverpool in 2020, Thiago managed just 68 Premier League appearances, with a solitary outing in the 2023-24 season due to recurring hip problems.
Despite the injury struggles at Liverpool, Thiago leaves the game a decorated player. In addition to the Champions League and league titles, he lifted the FA Cup with Liverpool and various domestic cups with Barcelona and Bayern Munich. He also represented Spain on 46 occasions. While details are scarce, Thiago’s social media post hinted at a future involvement in the game, stating “I will always be willing to give back what I have been given.”
