News reports have now confirmed that the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) ceremony, which was scheduled for November 2023, has been canceled. Following the recent threats of violence in Europe, which, according to reports, include the stabbing of a teacher in France by her student and the killing of two football fans in Sweden, a sequence of events triggered by the current Israel and Gaza situation, the organizers of the MTV Europe Music Awards have confirmed that their 2023 event will be canceled for safety reasons.
This announcement was confirmed in a statement that read, “The terror threat in France is currently at the highest level after a teacher was murdered by a 20-year-old Chechen refugee, while police also foiled a similar attack on another school. Yesterday, six airports across France were evacuated following threats of attacks, while on Monday, two men were shot dead in Brussels by a gunman claiming to be a supporter of ISIS.” It has been confirmed that the artists who had received award nominations would still be awarded regardless.
