Ebony Reigns, Ghanaian’s late Afro-Dancehall musician, was posthumously crowned “Artiste of the Year” at the 19th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). The ceremony which was held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, April 14, 2018, saw Sarkodie tie with Ebony for 4 awards each. Late Ebony Reigns became the first ever Ghanaian female artiste to win the “Artiste of the Year” accolade at the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Nigerian superstar Davido also emerged as one of the biggest winners of the night as he was crowned as the “Best African Artiste of the year” in a category that paraded fellow Nigerian artists like Wizkid, Tiwa Savage and Olamide alongside other Africansuperstars like Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C and Toofan.
Davido went home with the gong after having one of the most stellar years in his career. The night which celebrates the hard work of musicians in the country and the continent at large saw some great performances by Sarkodie, Samini, King Promise, Stonebwoy, Tiwa Savage and South Africa’s Nasty C.
