1. Rihanna becomes the most followed woman on Twitter

So far, 2023 has been good for Rihanna. She was this year’s Super Bowl halftime performer, where she cleverly announced baby No. 2. The entertainer also landed the cover of British Vogue with her new family, performed at the Oscars, and now, she’s celebrating a social media milestone. On Tuesday, April 11, it was reported that Rihanna has been crowned Twitter’s most-followed woman. Rihanna narrowly took the lead above pop star Katy Perry. The Fenty Beauty mogul and her runner-up had about a 16,000 follower difference at the time of the announcement, with RihRih having just over 108.2 million supporters on the app.

Fans were happy to congratulate the Barbados-born talent on the feat. The 35-year-old has yet to comment on the accomplishment. In her most recent tweet, she shared Easter-themed photos of her son, who she welcomed with partner A$AP Rocky in May 2022.

2. Davido releases highly requested music video of ‘Unavailable’

“Unavailable” might be the title of the song but Davido is never unavailable to his fans. They called, and he listened. On Tuesday, the hitmaker released the official music video of the trending record featuring South African singer Musa Keys due to popular demand. The track, which is housed under Davido’s latest and 4th studio album “Timeless,” is one of the hottest songs in Nigeria at the moment, charting on various streaming services in good positions.

Produced by the highly sought-after beatmaker Magicsticks, “Unavailable” counts as the 5th track on the critically acclaimed “Timeless” LP. The album consists of 17 tracks. The video was shot and directed by Dammy Twitch.

Close friends and family of Kelly Khumalo hosted a baby shower for the singer to celebrate her pregnancy. Taking to Instagram, Khumalo gave her followers a glimpse into her bear-themed celebration where she donned a nude dress by Khothatso Laurence Tsotetsi. “A New Lineage Legacy @nono_events @chefnzuzaofficial @tsotetsikl I’m in awe of what you did for me last night. This was super special,” she captioned the post. Kelly is pregnant with her third child.

The singer unveiled her pregnancy when flaunting her baby bump while in KwaZulu-Natal last December, after months of keeping it private. According to reports, Kelly is expecting a baby with former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder and boyfriend of three years Mthokozisi Vincent Yende. While Khumalo has not revealed the gender of her baby, the bear-themed baby shower and blue gift wrappers have some fans convinced she’s expecting a baby boy.

4. Cardi B passionately uses her platform to communicate with parents after Dalai Lama “Suck my tongue” video

Cardi B is urging parents to take the necessary steps to protect their children after a controversial video involving the Dalai Lama and a young boy. On April 9, a short clip began circulating on the internet of the 87-year-old having an inappropriate interaction with a child. In the video, the little boy approached the spiritual leader, asking for a hug. The Nobel Peace Prize winner agreed and hugged and kissed the kid. Afterward, things took a different turn when the Dalai Lama pointed to his lips and said, “I think finally here also.” He then pulled the boy’s chin and kissed him on the lips. “And suck my tongue,” he said shortly after.

When the video received widespread attention online, many were outraged and appalled at what they saw. Even after the monk’s team apologized on his behalf, the 30-year-old rapper and others took to social media to share their thoughts. The following day, Cardi B, a mother of two, used her platform on Twitter to tell parents to beware of predators. When a Twitter user attempted to start a debate with the New York native, Cardi B doubled down on her previous tweet, sharing how a conversation should go with children regarding their safety.

5. Chelsea rewards Ben Chilwell with two-year contract extension as remarkable injury comeback story gets new chapter

England international Ben Chilwell signed a new contract at Chelsea that runs until 2027, a year after recovering from a torn ACL. Chelsea have confirmed that left-back Chilwell has committed his future to the club and extended his deal at Stamford Bridge by another two years. Chilwell has been at the club since moving from Leicester City in a deal worth £50 million. The defender came back from a devastating ACL tear and then returned from another injury that ruled him out of the World Cup to make the left-back slot his own at Chelsea this season, making 25 appearances in all competitions for the Blues.

Chilwell’s decision will be a blow to Manchester City who have reportedly been eyeing the full-back as a potential replacement for Joao Cancelo. The news will also be a boost to Chelsea in the midst of a difficult campaign. The Blues are already onto their third manager of the season and sit down in 11th place in the Premier League.
