Though Pharrell Williams’ debut collection as creative director of Louis Vuitton men’s will only come on June 20, the multi-hyphenate star has provided an indelible glimpse at what his tenure will look like through an ad campaign starring Rihanna. In the visual, Rihanna wears a leather trench, decorated in what appears to be a pixelated version of the monogram pattern, and her baby bump is on full display (an ever-effective maternity style move for the star).

She is a vision of luxury on the go—the billionaire carries an array of colorful LV-monogram bags on her arms and even a coffee cup featuring a decorated holder sleeve. The fact that Rihanna is starring in the ad campaign for a men’s category exemplifies the growing fluidity in fashion.

2. Burna Boy under fire for canceling show after fans filled stadium

Grammy award-winning Nigerian artiste, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has come under heavy criticism on social media for canceling his headline show scheduled for Saturday night at the GelreDome, Arnhem, Netherlands after fans already filled the stadium. Fans reportedly filled the 41,000-capacity-seater waiting for hours for the “Last Last” crooner to thrill them before they received the rude news of the late cancellation of the show. Burna Boy took to his Instastory at midnight to announce that the show won’t be held despite fans already filling the venue.

The music star said he was anticipating performing for his Dutch fans but unfortunately, it couldn’t happen due to “a number of reasons.” He said his “amazing team has been hard at work trying to salvage it but we couldn’t do it in time.” He announced a new date of July 23. However, Burna Boy’s explanation didn’t seem to sit well with fans as they took to social media to berate the singer and his team over their action.

3. South Africa: Cassper Nyovest and Zingah bury the hatchet

It appears Cassper Nyovest and Zingah have put their disputes in the past and are attempting to start anew. Zingah publicly apologized for previously disrespecting Mufasa on the Choppin It With Bhuda YouTube podcast. Zingah is seen in the clip saying Cassper is a stellar guy who once boosted his confidence while struggling mentally and spiritually.

Cassper replied to the viral snippet on Twitter, saying he is happy to squash the beef. “It’s all good, G. We all do things we might not be proud of after experiencing some growth. We will chop it up properly in person soon and build from it. God bless.”

4. Davido remembers late son, Ifeanyi

Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, aka Davido, on Sunday, said he was going through difficulty as it was the first Father’s Day since he lost his first son, Ifeanyi Adeleke. Recall that Ifeanyi drowned in a swimming pool at the singer’s Banana Island mansion last October. On the occasion of the 2023 Father’s Day, Davido took to his Instastory to share how the boy’s death has taken a toll on him.

In a series of posts, he wrote: “Difficult father’s day for me… But I thank God for strength. Some days will be like this. Water full my eyes but I’ll be alright! Forever!” The father of four recently confirmed that the late Ifeanyi has a younger half-brother named Dawson who lives in London.

5. Ja Morant receives a 25-game suspension for “alarming and disconcerting” behavior

Ja Morant is in time-out. On June 16, the NBA officially announced a 25-game suspension for the Memphis Grizzlies star. The disciplinary action stems from an Instagram Live showing the young baller waving a gun as he sat in a car, rapping with a friend in early May. The 23-year-old faced backlash for a similar incident at a nightclub in March. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver previously stated that he would handle the situation following the league’s finals. With the Denver Nuggets defeating the Miami Heat earlier last week, Silver stayed true to his word.

Silver noted that the point guard needs to take a moment to refocus. At the end of May, authorities performed a welfare check on Morant when the athlete posted a series of cryptic messages to social media. After telling his family he loved them, he ended the posts by writing, “Bye.” On Friday, June 9, Morant issued a statement acknowledging his recent behavior.
