1. Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show breaks Guinness World Record

Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII performance set the Guinness World Record for the most-watched halftime show in history. Her highly anticipated performance signaled a comeback after a more than five-year break; the viewing audience of 121.017 million viewers beat Katy Perry’s record of 121 million for her halftime show at 2015’s Super Bowl XLIX. Riri’s show became one of her most unforgettable performances as she sang while suspended above the field, rubbing her growing baby bump.

According to reports, Nielsen Holdings initially reported that Rihanna’s performance attracted only 118.7 million viewers. This means the Barbadian icon’s halftime show attracted approximately 6 million more viewers than any Super Bowl game. Guinness World Records noted that the 2023 Super Bowl drew 115.1 million viewers, surpassing the 2015 record of 114.442 million, which was adjusted for irregularities. Rihanna adds this new accomplishment to her stack of Guinness World Records, including most consecutive years of UK No. 1 singles, richest musician (female), most cumulative weeks on the UK singles chart in a calendar year, and most digital No. 1 singles in the U.S.

2. Temi Otedola hints at a secret marriage with Mr Eazi

The second child of the Otedola household, Temi Otedola, took to social media to notify her followers that her partner, Mr. Eazi, had released a new album, which dropped on October 27. She made a tweet saying, “my husband dropped an album today.”

This statement shocked fans, as no one was aware of any private wedding. However, it had to come to the public eye that the two were engaged last year, but when Mr. Eazi said he wanted to legalize things with Otedola in his comeback single Legalize, no one expected that he would get married to her so soon. Although confirmation has yet to drop in from Mr. Eazi‘s side, it’s safe to say that the two might be a married couple.

3. South Africa’s Spring Bok win Rugby World Cup

Siya Kolisi clutched the Webb Ellis Cup tightly and then raised it high after helping South Africa make Rugby World Cup history with a fourth title, earning himself a place among the greats as only the second captain to win it back-to-back. Four years after dominating England, this final against New Zealand was much harder on Saturday. The Springboks overcame the resilient All Blacks 12-11 on the back of flyhalf Handre Pollard’s four penalties, doing so on a rain-soaked night at Stade de France when All Blacks captain Sam Cane felt the gloom as the first player red-carded in a final.

South Africa repeated its 1995 success over New Zealand and denied the All Blacks their own chance to win a fourth title in their record fifth final. Kolisi’s mind turned quickly to the millions of fans celebrating back home—in city centers, farms, townships, anywhere. It was a hard road to victory at the same stadium where South Africa beat England in the 2007 final.

4. Megan Thee Stallion announces new single and release date

Megan The Stallion has announced the release date for her upcoming brand-new single, “Cobra.” The new single drop comes after Meg teased a major announcement on her social media. It’s also her first solo drop since releasing “Traumazine” in August 2022. Most recently, the H-Town Hottie showcased her versatility as an actor by appearing in “Dicks: The Musical” earlier this month.

5. Prolific Man City striker Erling Haaland hits new milestone for Premier League away goals in derby clash with Man Utd

Erling Haaland has added another entry to the Premier League record books with the Manchester City star the quickest man to score 20 away goals. The prolific Norwegian international player moved to the Etihad Stadium during the summer of 2022. He was expected to take Pep Guardiola’s side to new heights as they landed another fearsome frontman, and he duly delivered 52 goals last season in a Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League treble.

Haaland has shown no sign of slowing down in 2023–24, with another hat-trick added to his impressive tally in the English top-flight during a September meeting with Fulham. The 23-year-old has proved almost impossible to stop both at home and on the road, with Manchester United finding that out to their cost in the latest derby played out at Old Trafford.
