Nine-time Grammy winner and the ultimate fashion force, Rihanna Robyn Fenty is the cover star for Vogue Hong Kong’s September issue. For the cover, the singer, actress, philanthropist, beauty entrepreneur and fashion designer manifests in a symphony of patterns, captured by fast-rising photographer Hanna Moon.
The September issue of Vogue Hong Kong – which hit newsstands on Sunday – declares Rihanna an “icon for our times.” In this spread, the 31-year-old Bajan pop diva donned designers like Louis Vuitton, Dries Van Noten and Alexander McQueen amongst others as selected by fashion director Anya Ziourova.
The hairstylist for the shoot, Yusef styled the Guava Island actress’ middle-parted updo which left her looking absolutely ageless, and for her makeup, makeup artist Kanako Takase opted for a minimalistic glam look.
Notably, prior to this shoot, Fenty, the LVMH-backed fashion house returned with the launch of its third collection, ‘Release 8-19’ on fenty.com. Available exclusively online, Release 8-19 introduces a range of pre-fall staples designed to challenge and transform traditional suiting. Double-breasted satin blazers appear in a light mulberry sheen to feature Maison’s signature waist-cinching form, while the use of cotton-jersey is elevated into biker-style sweatshirts and ankle zip pants that elongate the silhouette.
For shoes, Rihanna introduces Fenty’s first-ever boot. The corset boot features an angular T-heel — along with twist-strap pumps in white leather and wasabi satin. Accessories-wise, pearls feature in a series of arm cuffs and free-hanging hoops, joined by the label’s foldable sunglasses in a new jet-black colour. However, the Barbados-native’s lingerie line, Savage x Fenty, also recently secured an additional $50 million USD in funding. A live stream of the Savage x Fenty runway show will appear on Amazon Prime on 20 September, after New York Fashion Week. That’s how Riri stays winning despite not having released the album she promised us this 2019.
