Rema Declares Everyday A ‘Holiday’ + More New Trending Afrobeats Songs

Is it too soon to judge if we say Afrobeats has been on a good run this year? Taking a look back at the releases from the first week of January until now, Afrobeats artistes have been feeding us back-to-back bangers. It’s just February, and the conversation about the anthem of the year has begun. Setting the ball rolling this week is Rema, who made a surprise drop with a club banger titled Holiday.

Elsewhere, after publicly declaring his love for Abracadabra, Wizkid hopped on the remix of the Rexxie-hit. This is one of the few times Starboy has hopped on the remix of a song, and we have to say, it is fire! There have been many conversations surrounding new Afrobeats songs on social media this week. In that respect, we’ve curated the top five trending songs for your listening pleasure.

#1. Rema – Holiday

Nigerian superstar, Rema is on the move again in 2023 as he delivers his first song of the year titled Holiday. It seems Rema has a thing for February, just like he delivered the global hit Calm Down in February last year, the singer-songwriter is moving in the same trajectory with his latest, Holiday. The fast-tempo tune is produced by hitmaking record producer, Blaise Beatz and sets the ball rolling for Rema in 2023.

#2. BNXN ft. Kizz Daniel, Seyi Vibez – Gwagwalada

The music space is about to be held awestruck with what is potentially one of the leading anthems of the year. BNXN, Kizz Daniel, and Seyi Vibez have dauntlessly raised the baton, altogether rendering an incredible pitch on Gwagwalada. The track is a pure miscible blend of Afrobeats and Amapiano, distinguished by the thrilling South African kicks. It is also a tune that establishes the national presence of a Local Government Area in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, Abuja.

#3. Rexxie ft. Naira Marley, Skiibii, Wizkid – Abracadabra

Wizkid has finally picked Rexxie’s call as the global superstar jumps on the remix of the smash hit record Abracadabra. The remix that includes Naira Marley and Skiibii’s highly infectious verses has been unlocked, cleared, and delivered to the public. Produced by Rexxie himself, the Abracadabra remix is the beatmaker’s first installment for 2023.

#4. Patoranking – Abobi

When Patoranking dropped the snippet for Abobi on social media, it was received with exhilaration by fans. Just as he promised, the Nigerian singer-songwriter has finally delivered the highly anticipated track, alongside a complementary music video. Patoranking speaks up in Abobi on societal issues of police brutality, inter-neighborhood wars, and tribal conflicts as a catalyst to remind not just Nigerians or Africans but the world that we are one. This is the second track of his forthcoming album currently in the works.

#5. Spinall ft. BNXN, Stefflon Don – Oshey

The internationally acclaimed disc jockey, Spinall is out with a new song titled Oshey. To make this a banging record, Spinall teams up with Nigerian singer BNXN, formerly known as Buju, and the British-Jamaican rap star Stefflon Don. Produced by TMXO, Oshey is part of Spinall’s newly released 15-track album titled Top Boy.
