Last Week, The Best Beauty Looks Were An Unfiltered Display Of Sass

ast week, the girls sent mundanity packing as they paraded the streets with high-sass glam looks. We saw a good dose of well-defined eyes—from over-emphasized wings to exaggerated lashes, yet the makeup looks managed to tread within the confines of subtlety. Over in the hair department, Black girls took the gloves off with volume, texture, styling, and swag, bringing the heavy-hitting looks to a deserving climax

 red carpet makeup.

For the Savage X FENTY Volume 4 show, TV darling Marsai Martin opted for an overall subtle face beat with over-the-top eyes. The eye look made a case for heavy wings which did well to emphasize its beautiful shape. When you add her witchy lashes to the mix, the result is a sultry look that’s difficult to resist. 

Meanwhile, the several press rounds for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been sweet opportunities to show off amazing red carpet makeup and hairstyles, and Lupita Nyong’o has leveraged every opportunity. Last week, the star stepped out with a naturalistic doll-up punctuated by deep purple lipstick. What we find impressive about her makeup is how the rest of her face appeared makeup-free leaving enough room for her lips to shine. Speaking of attention-grabbing lips, South Africa’s sweetheart Pamela Mtanga opted for a vibrant red pout to add some vibe to her super-clean beat.

Hair

Next, we turn our attention to the hair department and the intricate styles that dominated the week. On one occasion, Halle Bailey stole our hearts with maxi braids styled in a single updo to resemble a lofty crown adorning a glorious Black woman. On another occasion, Imani Hakim also shone in braids, but this time they were styled in a half-up, front sweep pattern that played up her cheekbones.
