1. Prince Charles tests positive for coronavirus

The Prince of Wales, Prince Charles has tested positive for coronavirus, Clarence House has announced. Prince Charles, 71, is displaying mild symptoms of coronavirus “but otherwise remains in good health”, a spokesman said, adding that the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla, 72, has been tested but does not have the virus.

Charles and Camilla are now self-isolating at Balmoral. Buckingham Palace said the Queen last saw her son, the heir to the throne, on 12 March, but was “in good health.” The palace added that the Duke of Edinburgh was not present at that meeting and that the Queen was now following all the appropriate advice with regard to her welfare.

2. Runtown gives away ₦10 million amid coronavirus scare

While the whole world is panicking over the coronavirus scare, Runtown has decided to help reduce the plight of many fans by giving away ten million Naira. The music star took to his Twitter page on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, where he tweeted about helping fans with ten million Naira to help cushion the effect of the virus.

HOPE EVERYONE IS STAYING SAFE. TIMES ARE EXTREMELY TOUGH AND I AM CERTAIN THERE ARE PEOPLE WITH NO MONEY TO STOCK UP ON SURVIVAL ESSENTIALS. WILL BE GIVING OUT 10 MILLION NAIRA TO THIS CAUSE. KINDLY DROP YOUR ACCOUNT DETAILS.” he tweeted.

Since the music star shared that tweet on Twitter, the social media platform has been wilding out with fans sending their account details. A number of people have confirmed receiving certain amounts of money from Runtown.


3. Edo speaker tests positive for coronavirus

Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr Frank Okiye, has been confirmed as the index case of Coronavirus in the state. The Chief Medical Director of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Prof. Sylvania Okogbenin, had on Monday announced that Edo recorded its first case.

The state Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu said Governor Godwin Obaseki had also gone into isolation following his contact with the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, in Abuja.

Shaibu said Okiye, who travelled to the United Kingdom, went into self-isolation immediately after his return at the Irrua Specialist Hospital, Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State.

4. DR Congo president’s aide dies of coronavirus

Jean-Joseph Mukendi wa Mulumba was a key figure in opposition politics

The third person to die of Covid-19 complications in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a respected human rights lawyer and an aide to President Félix Tshisekedi. Jean-Joseph Mukendi Wa Mulumba was the acting head of President Tshisekedi’s legal advisory council.

He is likely to have contracted the respiratory illness during his trip to France for a medical check-up. Many in DR Congo have described Mr Mukendi wa Mulumba’s death as a huge loss.

DR Congo has confirmed 48 cases of Covid-19, the respiratory illness caused by coronavirus. On Tuesday, President Tshisekedi announced the closure of the country’s borders and isolated the capital, Kinshasa, where most of the cases have been reported, from the rest of the country.


5. Conor McGregor pledges 1m Euros for protective equipment for Irish hospitals

Conor McGregor has pledged one million Euros worth of personal protective equipment for hospitals in Ireland. In a private Twitter exchange with Irish Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe, published by McGregor, the UFC star said he planned to buy the equipment on Wednesday before distributing it around hospitals in Dublin.

It comes a day after the Dublin native, 31, called for the government to fight back against the coronavirus by introducing an immediate lockdown. McGregor also repeated his calls for all construction sites to be closed.
