1. SA army drops charges against Muslim officer

South Africa’s army has withdrawn charges it brought against a Muslim officer who refused to take off her headscarf in 2018. Maj Fatima Isaacs was charged with wilful defiance and disobeying a lawful command after she failed to comply when her superior asked her to remove her headscarf.
The army withdrew the charges at a military court at the Castle of Good Hope near Cape Town and said Major Isaacs was allowed to wear a headscarf as long as it did not cover her ears and was “plain in colour”.
2. The US to place visa restriction on Nigeria, other countries

United States President, Donald Trump, is set to add Nigeria and six other countries; Belarus, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sudan and Tanzania to a new list of countries on America’s visa restriction. According to reports, Nigerians would not be barred from entering the country but would not be issued with certain types of visas.
The Trump administration plans to roll out its expanded travel restrictions on Monday, marking the three-year anniversary of the initial travel ban Trump signed on his seventh day in office, sparking controversy at the beginning of his term.
Unlike the initial travel ban list of 2017, most of the new countries don’t have majority-Muslim populations. Several of them, however, have had relatively higher rates of their citizens overstaying visas in the US.

Chika Ike has got to be one of the sexiest celebrities around but her latest photo on Instagram will probably take her a step further on that list because of how seductive it is.

Her caption alone gave a clear insight as to what her motive clearly was; “Lick your screen ?. #dinner,” she wrote. Being bold and beautiful is one thing but damning all the consequences and showing up like a million bucks and sexy is another thing. Thumbs up to Chika Ike for pulling this see-through outfit.
4. Violent protests in Beirut follow Lebanon’s cabinet meeting

Police have used water cannon to contain protesters throwing rocks during anti-government demonstrations in Beirut. The clashes erupted as Lebanon’s new government convened on Wednesday, a day after it was formed following a three-month political vacuum.
New Prime Minister Hassan Diab said his cabinet will adopt financial and economic methods different from those of previous governments. Protesters in and around Beirut gathered in the capital to denounce the meeting, describing it as a rubber stamp for the same political parties they blame for widespread corruption.

Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic both enjoyed comfortable wins to reach the third round of the Australian Open. Federer beat world number 41 Filip Krajinovic of Serbia 6-1 6-4 6-1 to maintain his bid to match Djokovic’s seven Australian Open titles. The Swiss, 38, wrapped up victory in 92 minutes and will face Australia’s John Millman next.
