Rapper Quavo surprised his girlfriend, fellow rapper Saweetie with a brand new Bentley — complete with a red bow on the hood — for Christmas. In a super cute moment captured on Instagram Live, Quavo popped the Christmas surprise and Saweetie seemed pretty fired up about the luxurious gift.
In the clip, she could hardly contain her excitement when she sees the lavish vehicle and lets out an overjoyed scream of delight before and after getting in. After showing off the customized interior of the high-end automobile — which includes the word “Icy” embroidered into the headrests just below the iconic Bentley logo — Quavo hugged her as they smiled at the new ride.
2. Nigeria: Africa CDC confirms new COVID-19 variant found in Nigeria

Another new strain of COVID-19 emerged – this time in Nigeria – which seems to be from a separate lineage to that of the new variants recently found in South Africa and the United Kingdom. The head of Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, John Nkengasong, confirmed on Thursday, December 24 that data on the new COVID-19 variant is still very limited and that additional research is needed.
Nkengasong told reporters in Addis Ababa on Thursday that it is a “separate lineage from the UK and South Africa” and that “it’s still very early” to conclude on the new variant. Nkengasong, however, explained that the new strain in Nigeria “has the 501 mutations,” referring to the 501.V2 variant which was identified in South Africa on Friday, December 18, 2020.
3. South Africa: Doctors call for another hard lockdown as new COVID-19 variant spreads

The new strain of the COVID-19 virus, termed 501.V2 Variant, is spreading rapidly with younger people also testing positive. General practitioners in South Africa said they were inundated with patients who had symptoms of the virus. Some of those who have tested positive in recent days had also tested positive earlier this year.
Doctor Lazarus Jakes, of Chatsworth, said: “The second wave is undoubtedly worse. I have patients who tested positive in March and recovered that are testing positive again. It’s the same symptoms, but the virus is transferred faster. Before the kids were safe, but now, more children are testing positive.”
4. Ghana: Ghana remains a beacon of democracy in Africa – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo says Ghana is “united and at peace” and “continue to be a beacon of democracy” in Africa, having conducted amid the COVID-19 pandemic “a transparent, free, fair, credible and safe general election which have been recognized by both local and international observers.”
In his Christmas message to Ghanaians on Thursday, the President said Ghana’s economy was rebounding at a much faster rate than originally anticipated, adding that “We are ensuring that the basic elements of social justice that is wide access to quality education and good healthcare are being met. Food is affordable and it is in abundance in the markets.”
5. Paris St-Germain: Mauricio Pochettino main contender to replace Thomas Tuchel
Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is the main contender to take over at Paris St-Germain after Thomas Tuchel was sacked. It is understood PSG’s players have been told that the Argentine, 48, will be joining the club. Talks between PSG and Pochettino started at least two weeks ago.
It was earlier reported that Tuchel, 47, was sacked hours after he took charge of Wednesday’s 4-0 win against Strasbourg. The French club is yet to confirm the German’s dismissal.
