1. Phyno ft. Phenom and Falz – Get The Info

In recent times, artists are using their voices more to talk about social issues. For his first track of the year, Phyno enlists other socially conscious artists such as Phenom and Falz as they air their grievances against the government in this track titled Get The Info.

Phyno opens the song, is later joined by Phenom on the second verse with Falz delivering the song’s third verse. In the song, the rappers address everything from elections, to poverty, to tribalism and religion. They urge listeners to stay informed and “Get The Info” throughout.

2. Fireboy DML – Need You

Fireboy DML releases the visuals of Need You, a love track off his debut album ‘Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps‘ (LGT). The love ballad sees the artist singing about the strong feelings he has for his partner.

The video shows the artist and a love interest as they try and escape together, and later get caught up with the bad guy that’s out to separate them. The events lead to a tragic ending for the couple.

With the release of the video, Fireboy DML took to his Twitter to write this – “Of course, it’s a tale of love—of finding it again, of learning that time is fickle and you have to treasure what you hold dear while you still can.”


3. Cobhams Asuquo ft. Simi – We Plenti

Musician, producer, and songwriter Cobhams Asuquo teams up with Studio Brat pioneer Simi on his latest single titled We Plenti to mark his birthday.

According to Cobhams, We Plenti comes with a powerful narrative. He explains, “This song is to encourage every Nigerian to let you know that you are not the worst person in the world. And everything happens in its own time. The fact that it might not have happened in the time you want it doesn’t mean it won’t happen at all.

A lot of people are frustrated about their situation in life not realizing that it might be a matter of time. A lot of people need to find reasons to keep going. And just knowing that they are not the only one going through stuff is enough encouragement to keep at it. It is a song of hope, encouragement and the need to hold out faith. It’s also a direct encouragement to keep working.”

4. Niniola – Omo Rapala

Niniola starts off the year on a high note as she releases the video of her previously releasesd single titled Omo Rapala.

The video shows off The Agbaakin Abobagunwa of Yorubaland #Obesere, who’s been dubbed the original Omo Rapala on the streets as he endorses and blesses Niniola with his appearance.


5. Blaqbonez – Green Blaq Green (Khaligraph Jones Reply)

One thing is for sure, Nigerians will reply every gbas with an appropraite gbos. That is the case here as Blaqbonez as he replies Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones who released a diss track for the Choc boy, titled Best Rapper In Nigeria.

In less than 48 hours, Blaqbonez replied with Green Blaq Green where he accused Kalligraph of trying to blow in the Nigerian music industry, also referencing the Kenyan’s collaboration with Nigerian rappers M.I and Ice Prince Zamani.
