1. Pharrell Williams debuts his first menswear collection for Louis Vuitton

Pharrell Williams takes over Louis Vuitton SS24 and debuts his first menswear collection with the Parisian fashion house, starting with chromatic LV-monogrammed Speedy bags and pixelated camouflage. Louis Vuitton and Pharrell Williams set their fashion show in Paris at the illuminated Pont Neuf — the iconic bridge which has spanned the river Seine for 445 years — and allured viewers with the collection of the new men’s creative director before the scenic view of the Eiffel Tower. Pharrell Williams succeeded Virgil Abloh as the men’s creative director of the fashion house in February 2023, and the show grounds his appointed role and has whet appetite for the future collections he has in store for the French luxury house.

Pharrell Williams, the iconic musician turned fashion innovator, made a resounding statement with his highly anticipated — and enormous — men’s SS24 collection for Louis Vuitton. The line was splashed with playful prints, especially colorful checkerboard and pixelated camouflage. This patterning was expressed in bold colors, pared-down neutrals, and shades of grey, wrapping everything from apparel to bags and luggage. Silhouettes blurred lines of gender with oversized fits, thigh-high shorts, wrap-skirts, and structured cuts shown on both masculine and feminine models during the show.

On Monday, Adekunle Gold announced the title of his fifth album which is set for release in the summer of 2023. In the video posted on his social media platforms, Adekunle Gold gave insight into his artistic evolution over the years and how his upcoming fifth album titled “Tequila Ever After” is the beginning of the Tio Tequila wave. The video gave fans an insight into the inspiration behind the album title as the singer revealed that he had a shot of Tequila for the first time and proceeded to record what was a smash hit. This was the eureka moment that inspired him to call his next album “Tequila Ever After” and which also ushered in his Tio Tequila wave that has delivered smash hits including the “Party No Dey Stop,” “Omo Eko” and “Do You Mind.”

In addition to the release of his fifth album, Adekunle Gold will be kicking off his 2023 Summer Tour on September 22nd at the House of Blues in Dallas, Texas before making stops at several cities where he will dazzle listeners with his superlative stagecraft.

3. Trevor Noah set to host new Spotify original podcast

Trevor Noah has been quite the busy man since he left his post as the host of “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah“ in 2022. Not only has the South African comedian teamed up with Savanna for his upcoming 12-show tour of SA, but he’s also hosted a number of events, most notably the Grammy Awards. Now, Spotify has announced that a new “Original Podcast with Trevor Noah,” whom the company noted as “one of the most successful comedians in the world and a New York Times best-selling author,” is set to be launched later this year. The weekly podcast will see Noah blend his signature humor and razor-sharp wit with his global perspective to deliver a unique take on the hottest and most captivating topics of the moment.

The series will also feature “in-depth and free-wheeling” conversations between Noah and some of the most influential and interesting figures around the world. Despite it being a Spotify series, the company said that the new original series will be available on numerous platforms.

4. Dr. Dre to receive ASCAP’s first-ever Hip Hop Icon Award

Dr. Dre will be receiving another prestigious award soon. According to reports, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) announced on Tuesday that the Compton hitmaker will be receiving the first-ever Hip Hop Icon Award at the organization’s 2023 Rhythm & Soul Music Awards. The event will take place on Thursday, June 22, in Los Angeles, California. The Hip Hop Icon Award honors ASCAP members whose musical contributions have made an “indelible impact” on the art and culture of hip-hop by inspiring and influencing fellow music creators. According to its official website, the organization consists of professional “songwriters, composers and music publishers, founded and governed by its members, and the world leader in performance royalties, advocacy and service for music creators.”

This achievement does not come as a shock to fans of Dr. Dre as he has produced some of the biggest hits in the world for superstars. He also won his first Emmy for his 2022 Super Bowl halftime performance. This also isn’t the first time the music industry group honored the Grammy Award-winning rapper. In 2010, Dr. Dre was presented with the ASCAP Founders Award during their 23rd annual Rhythm & Soul Music Awards.

5. Chelsea confirm £53m Christopher Nkunku transfer as RB Leipzig forward joins Blues on six-year deal

Chelsea have confirmed the £53 million signing of RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku. The Frenchman’s proposed switch to Stamford Bridge was the worst-kept secret in football over the past year, as he reportedly passed a medical and agreed to sign for the Blues back in December. Chelsea had to wait until the end of the 2022-23 campaign to trigger his £53m release clause, but the transfer has now officially gone through. Nkunku has committed his future to the Blues through to 2029, bringing to an end his four-year stay at RB Leipzig.

The 25-year-old expressed his delight over the move in a statement on Chelsea’s official website, which reads: “I am incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea. A big effort was made to bring me to the club and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and teammates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch. Having played in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited for this challenge and will be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt.”
