Multi-award-winning dancehall maestro Patoranking is set to release a new album he calls World Best, as per his Instagram page. The announcement video features Nigerian actress Osas Ighodaro, who also hosted the 2022 Headies Awards in Atlanta, Georgia. World Best, which is set for release on September 6, is Patoranking’s first album in three years after the release of his 2020 album Three, which delivered the hit track Abule. His upcoming album can be expected to pack some of his recent hits and a host of other exciting records.

2. Michael B. Jordan, Oprah set to be honored at Annual Academy Museum Gala

Michael B. Jordan and Oprah Winfrey are part of a distinguished group of Hollywood figures who will be celebrated at the third annual fundraising gala of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Jordan will be presented with the Vantage Award, which honors “an emerging artist or scholar who is helping to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema.” Meanwhile, the Pillar Award will go to Winfrey, recognizing her “exemplary leadership and support for the Academy Museum.”

Organizers shared in a statement that the fundraiser was “green-lit to move forward by WGA and SAG-AFTRA” amid the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes. Actress and director Sofia Coppola and Academy Award-winner Meryl Streep are also among those being honored. The Academy Museum Gala will be held on Saturday, October 14.

3. South Africa: Travis Scott partying it up with Black Coffee in Ibiza

Grammy award winner Black Coffee is known for rubbing shoulders with mega stars since he secured residency on the Spanish island Ibiza. Recently, the DJ and producer got to party with American rapper Travis Scott at Hï Ibiza, which has been voted the World’s #1 Club in 2022 and 2023. Black Coffee shared a video of their interaction at the club with the caption: “Bro Travis came to show love last night at Hï Ibiza.” Black Coffee is undeniably well-acquainted with international stars and the circle keeps getting bigger.

After selling out the O2 Brixton Hall within minutes on three different occasions, Asake made the big move up to the O2 Arena. In another landmark feat, Asake has announced that all available tickets for the 20,000-capacity Arena are now sold out ahead of his August 20 concert. This impressive feat sees Asake join Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy as the Nigerian artists who have sold out the famous O2 Arena.

The O2 Arena is the venue of choice for Nigerian superstars to make their grand announcements as international superstars. After dominating the local soundscape in unprecedented fashion and setting surreal records on streaming platforms and TurnTable Charts, Asake is aiming to make his grand entrance on the international stage. So far in 2023, he has headlined several Afrobeats festivals with the latest being the Berlin Afrobeats where he had Europeans singing along to his songs.

5. Arsenal’s new signing Jurrien Timber to have surgery after suffering ACL injury on Premier League debut

Arsenal have confirmed new signing Jurrien Timber has suffered an ACL injury, and he now faces an extended period on the sidelines. Timber only signed for the club from Ajax last month and made his competitive debut in the 2-1 win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. However, he was brought off early in the second half, and speculation spread that the right-back had suffered a serious knee injury, and confirmation has now arrived.

Timber will require surgery on the injury and now faces months on the sidelines as his lengthy rehabilitation period begins. It’s likely he will miss the remained of the 2023-24 season. “Further to detailed assessments with consultant specialists since Saturday, we can confirm that Jurrien Timber has sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee,” said the club in an official statement. “Jurrien will undergo surgery in the coming days and will be out of action for a period of time.”
