Our 10 Favourite Looks From The Balmain SS20 Collection

Olivier Rousteing, the creative director and designer of Balmain staged a full on music festival to celebrate his SS20 collection at the Paris Fashion Week. Rousteing’s inspiration for the show was the Fete de la Musique, a city wide celebration of the musical arts. The event took place at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris and was attended by members of the public to come celebrate Balmain.

The models walked down the runway in 80’s inspired outfits as every piece in the collection embodied all the trends of that era. What differentiated Rousteing’s leather tracksuits, giant lapels and pastel satin wears from the trends in the past era is how sleek the outfits look. Balmain pieces are usually super expressive and this collection was nothing different when it came to exaggerated silhouettes.

Rousteing embraced the pastel trend, another winner for spring, and sent out a wide range of tuxedo style jackets in sorbet shades while prismatic, foiled looks in silver and sunset orange which added a fantastic twist to the entire composure of the collection.

The majority of the shoes that stepped the runway were white sneakers of different styles including sock sneakers, dad sneakers, low-rise sneakers, amongst other designs, a real palette cleanser that drew attention beautifully and popped brightly on the well-lit runway.

The most noticeable thing about the show was the models who looked like they were having fun as they strutted up and down the runway. Bold, daring and luxurious styles like these ones were made for large stages like this and Rousteing made sure he put up a show of a lifetime for the people present at the show.
