1. Omah Lay Performs On NPR’s Tiny Desk

Nigerian music sensation Omah Lay sparked reactions from fans after his NPR Tiny Desk performance surfaced on social media. On February 28, a clip of Omah Lay’s NPR Tiny Desk performance was posted on social media, and this generated reactions from listeners due to his poor vocals. The superstar performed his hit single “Soso” off his debut album “Boy Alone” with the assistance of a backup band, with whom he wasn’t in sync.

The performance had been described as poor by fans who struggled to reconcile his hoarse vocals with the impeccable song they all love. Omah Lay’s struggles while performing live revived the conversation on a recurring issue in Nigerian music, where even the biggest artistes have continued to deliver subpar live performances.

2. Tory Lanez sentencing date in Megan Thee Stallion shooting case postponed by judge

Tory Lanez will reportedly have to wait longer to find out the details of his sentence after being found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020. It was reported that a new potential sentencing date of April 10 was set during a hearing with Superior Court Judge David Herriford on Tuesday, February 28. He was originally supposed to be sentenced at the end of February.

Additionally, at Tuesday’s hearing, the judge lifted a gag order that had blocked the Toronto rapper from speaking publicly about the case. His current lawyers are now expected to file an order for a new trial. On December 23, Tory Lanez was found guilty of all three charges he faced during his trial, including felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a concealed, unregistered firearm, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence, over the July 2020 shooting that took place after a Hollywood Hills party.

Milan Fashion Week was once again a star-studded affair as the who’s who of the entertainment industry descended on the fashion capital of the world. Famed designer brands like Bottega Veneta, Fendi, Prada, and Gucci all showcased their latest ranges across more than 50 exclusive shows held during the week. Among the stars in attendance over the weekend was South African pop-Amapiano star Tyla, who sat next to 42-year-old media mogul Kim Kardashian in the front row of Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall/Winter 2023 runway show.

After the show, the billionaire founder of SKIMS posted a carousel of images on Instagram that included a picture of her posing next to Tyla. The “Kardashians” star is currently the face of Dolce & Gabbana’s 2023 spring campaign.

4. Nigeria election: Obi plans to challenge Tinubu’s victory

Nigeria’s opposition Labor Party is to mount a legal challenge against the presidential election victory of Bola Tinubu of the governing APC. Labor Party’s Peter Obi came in third in Saturday’s vote. The opposition says the results were rigged and is calling for fresh polls. Just 28% of eligible Nigerian voters took part. Some could not cast their ballots because of malfunctioning machines.

Tinubu won a 37% share of the votes, a lower margin of victory than previous Nigerian presidents. European Union election observers said there had been significant shortcomings in the electoral process, adding that there had been vote-buying but it was too early to say how widespread this was.

5. Paul Pogba finally makes second Juventus debut

Paul Pogba played his first competitive match since rejoining Juventus last summer, as he came off the bench against Torino on Tuesday. Pogba sustained a knee injury in pre-season and underwent surgery. He missed the World Cup as a result but has finally featured again for Juventus after returning to the club from Manchester United last summer.

Juventus took a 3-2 lead over Torino shortly after Pogba’s introduction and extended the advantage in the 80th minute when French teammate Adrien Rabiot found the back of the net. Juve held on for a 4-2 victory that moves them within 10 points of the Champions League places. Juventus are expected to be cautious with Pogba, so he may not make his first start this season for another week or two. However, he’ll be in contention to feature in some capacity on Sunday against Roma.
