Listen To Chike, Olamide, CKay + More New Trending Afrobeat Songs

One of the beautiful things about afrobeats as a genre is how well it exists in a spectrum. As a genre, you can find sub-genres like street-hop, afro-fusion, afro RnB and much more pulling in a diverse range of audiences. One thing these genres have in common is their ability to stimulate the listener, and that’s just what the releases of this week did. Starting from street-hop king, Olamide who surprise-dropped his second single of the year, We Outside — a danceable tune that is sure to be a club banger.

After several delays, fan-favorite BNXN finally released his highly anticipated second EP, Bad Since ’97. On it is the Wizkid-featured song Many Ways, that social media hasn’t stopped talking about since its release. As we enter into another weekend, we’ve compiled a list of the top five trending new afrobeat songs of the week for your pleasure.

#1. Olamide – We Outside

After teasing fans with an Amapiano song titled NATI, Olamide makes a u-turn back to afrobeats with We Outside. This song serves as the hitmaker’s second official single for 2022. On this track, Olamide claims to be a senior man who has respect for every man irrespective of their identity. The rapper also sings about living his best outside life with his friends.

#2. Chike ft. Ycee – You Deserve

Well respected RnB and highlife singer, Chike offers this stimulating music titled You Deserve. On this song, which is one of the tracks from his newly released album, The Brother’s Keeper, Chike joins efforts with singer and rapper Ycee. You Deserve is melodious and also soothing to the heart as both artists showcase their romantic sides while taking on every verse with relative ease.

#2. BNXN ft. Wizkid – Many Ways

Many Ways is an impressive entry from famed Nigerian musician, BNXN fka Buju which features one of the most celebrated singers in Africa, Wizkid. Many Ways is an Afrobeat-inspired euphony that sees both artists dare to create a tune that resonates with listeners cutting across Afrobeat and non-Afrobeat lovers. The unique track is off BNXN’s newly released second EP, Bad Since ’97.

#4. CKay – You

In preparation for the release of his upcoming album, Sad Romance, Nigerian singer-songwriter CKay has released a brand new single titled You. CKay releases this song while still enjoying the popularity of his international songs Love Nwantiti and Emiliana. Christer Kobedi, a talented beatmaker, produced the tune. It depicts CKay pursuing his love interest while sounding cozy to the track’s melodic instrumentation.

#5. Rema ft. Selena Gomez – Calm Down (Remix)

Fans can finally calm down as Rema and Selena Gomez’s new collaboration, a remix of Rema’s Calm Down, is finally available. Gomez and Rema announced their collaborative effort after a video surfaced of the American meeting the Nigerian backstage at the latter’s Rave & Roses World Tour. The song is the second single from Rave & Roses, Rema’s debut studio album. 2022 has seen the Nigerian Afro-fusion artist rising on the charts, and making moves on the road.
