While challenges still remain for local designers, we could still say that it’s a great time for Lagos fashion. From old to new, the various display of designer collections showed so much promise and we particularly loved Odio Mimonet’s collection for several reasons.
You already know what they say about fine wine. The couture brand with almost 20 years of discerning what clients need has always had a strong tradition of creating pieces that celebrate the beauty of the feminine form and this collection was no different.
As models made their way down the runway, it became obvious that a serious level of thoughtfulness was put into each piece. This you could tell by the intricacies of the designs and the rich choice of contrasting fabrics, as well as the details in each piece. The colour scheme didn’t stray far away from what we are used to with the brand but the addition of matted schemes, splashes of paint and the use of lace gave us an updated aesthetics that was simply refreshing. You could say the pieces told a story that showed the beauty of complexities.
We are truly impressed by the collection and it’s nothing like we’ve seen before which makes us all the more excited. There’s something unique about each piece: while the designs leverage on being different and creative, they also provide that ready-to-wear appeal that the busy cosmopolitan woman would get attracted to.
