NYFW Spring/Summer 2020 came off to a slow start. However, by day 2, things had picked up pretty fast and the runway was lit in colours as designers showcased their collections. The NYFW SS20 season marks Tom Ford’s first season as the CFDA’s new chairman.
While the streets were set on fire by fashion faithfuls as they strutted their unique looks, the runway was also kept lit by top models showing off the latest designs by some of the world’s most successful designers. From emerging trends to the standout classic pieces, designers brought a balanced dose of individuality and creativity to the NYFW SS20 runways.
Tom Ford served all the cool-girl vibes with punk-perfect energy, Phillip Lim focused on detailing just as fast-rising Nigerian designer, Nonnistics, stole the Oxford Studio Shows with rich and delicate fabrics, unpredictable tones and standout details.
Area showcased outfits that screamed innovation and craft as Ralph Lauren created “Ralph’s Club”: a one-night-only jazz club inspired by the majestic hedonism of the 1920s with singer Janelle Monae performing a lineup of jazz classics.
