NYFW: Brandon Maxwell Delivers Contemporary Elegance With His Fall 2019 Collection
A fashion and culture enthusiast who's really a food loving…
For Fall 2019, Brandon Maxwell presented an intimate show at the Penn Plaza Pavilion in Midtown Manhattan. The collection which was an emotional one for him was dedicated to his mum. At the end of the show, Brandon took his final bow arm-in-arm with his mother, who was diagnosed with breast cancer after last season’s show.
For this collection, Brandon took to his Instagram to share that he found himself thinking about the potential of clothes to act as armour against the elements – both physical and spiritual. The resulting silhouettes are a kind of fantasy; one designed to celebrate the incongruences between what we want and what we must face.
The Brandon Maxwell Fall 2019 collection is an elegant and restrained collection. The collection focuses on his trademark black-tie evening gowns and suitings in black and white with injections of fuchsia and lime green. The collection also comes with an athleisure luxury vibe as it features anorak influences, zipper detailing and caped shoulders.
However, Brandon didn’t skimp on high-impact event looks. This came in the closing outfit which looked like a parachute gown with a billowing skirt, blouson top and waist cutout crisscrossed with dainty ties. This is definitely a collection to love!
