Last Week’s Best Beauty Looks Brought A Flamboyant Year To A Refined Conclusion

Twenty-twenty-three has come to an end but not without one last push from the stars to ensure the year ended with a bang. Although the event lineup was sparse last week, that was no excuse for Black women to relax in the beauty department. Yes, even for seemingly laid-back IG photos, the ladies pulled out all the stops, offering makeup looks and hairstyles that closed the year in style while whetting our appetite for what the new year has in store.

One thing we’ve come to expect from Yvonne Orji is an unabashed commitment to the woman she is — from her faith to her culture. For her New Year’s makeup look, the actress gave a nod to her African roots in a queenly ensemble enlivened with gold jewels! For such a regal look, an appropriate face beat is required and the star leveraged a subtle option to balance the showmanship of the jewels. Featuring lightly-filled brows, glass lids, witchy falsies on her top and bottom lashes, and dark matte lipstick, the look echoed the tale of a queen in her era. 

Jasmine Tookes is another star who welcomed the new year with an understated makeup look. The model was elegant in neutral tones, underscoring the fact that less is still more. From her lightly smoked eyes to her soft ombré lips and the coyish flush of her cheeks, all elements of this offering worked in absolute harmony.

Hairstyle

Just when we think we’ve seen the most that Doja Cat can do, the singer takes things a step further. Last week, she was a sight in her platinum blonde low-cut with well-laid edges and sassy curls.
