Osaka said the inspiration behind starting her own skincare brand came when she was younger. She says she barely found a sunscreen that suits people with highly melanated skin especially when she traveled to other countries. naomi osaka net worth

“If I went to Australia, the sunscreen would make me really pasty and I feel like a lot of people can relate to that, not just in Australia but here in the States as well. I guess everywhere in the world.”

#2. On the meaning of KINLÒ

The tennis star explains that KINLÒ is a fusion of words from different languages that represent her identity.

“KINLÒ comes from part Japanese and part Creole language and I thought that that was really cool because it sort of represents me as well. Kin is Japanese for gold. I thought that that was cool. In Japanese, words can also mean several different things. It was interesting trying to choose one specific word. I felt that the whole process was really interesting.”

#3. On how she stays motivated

As someone who has been competing for most of her life, Naomi Osaka has found a way to turn competition into motivation, and this has been working well for her in her sports career, and now, her skincare brand.

“I guess I’m pretty competitive because my sport is also competitive. I just do what other people do and do it better in a way.” naomi osaka net worth

#4. Her advice to other budding entrepreneurs on how to be open to the opportunities that are out there

Though Osaka herself is new in the world of entrepreneurship having spent just about six months running KINLÒ, she had a few words to say to baby entrepreneurs like her.

“The first step is always the toughest because you feel like that’s your name and you’re the one that’s mainly responsible or you’re the one that people feel the company is associated with. You always want everything to be perfect. Everyone does. Trust the process. You’ve spent months or years developing it, making it as amazing as you want it to be. It boils down to trusting yourself.”
