The Most Rave-Worthy Designs From Milan Fashion Week FW24 Runways

A fashion and pop culture writer who watches a lot…
Milan Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2024 showcased a season marked by significant debuts. Tod’s and Blumarine introduced new creative directors, with Matteo Tamburini from Bottega Veneta leading Tod’s and Walter Chiapponi, previously with Tod’s, taking over at Blumarine in place of Nicolas Brognano. Moschino also welcomed Adrian Appiolaza, formerly of Loewe, as the new creative director, bringing a decade of experience as the ready-to-wear design director.
Notable moments included Marni’s return to Milan after recent showings in Paris, Tokyo, and New York. Meanwhile, Prada’s impactful Fall/Winter 2024 collection, a collaboration between Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, delved into ‘fragments of the past’ to craft a collection representing the future. At Bottega Veneta, Matthieu Blazy aimed to elevate the ordinary, emphasizing the human connection in the act of dressing amidst a tumultuous world. The schedule also featured fashion titans Giorgio Armani, Max Mara, Gucci, and Dolce & Gabbana.
Fausto Puglisi left his mark on Roberto Cavalli by replacing iconic animal prints with marbled patterns. The collection showcased diverse textures, colors, and silhouettes, featuring black leather, lace, baroque-printed velvet, and denim. Deep greens, gold, and black-and-white marble prints reflected Puglisi’s commitment to elevating Cavalli’s original vision of Italian luxury, complemented by accents like crocodile bags and snakeskin boots.
Fendi’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection seamlessly blended ’80s London power dressing with timeless Italian savoir-faire. The runway exhibited luxurious outerwear, sheer blouses, and skirts adorned with prints of Roman statues, alongside playful dotted sheer pieces. Chunky gold jewelry and riding boots grounded the looks, creating a dark and enchanting ambiance. Kim Jones’ ability to fuse cultural influences brought a fresh perspective, with oxblood, hunter green, and tans taking center stage.
