Designers have been going back in time with their Spring 2019 collection and Donatella Versace was not left out of this trend as she not only revisited retro styles but brought Canadian model and actress Shalom Harlow, who rose to prominence in the 90s, to close the Versace SS19 show at Milan Fashion Week.
Shalom Harlow is said to have made her first runway appearance in six years as she closed the show in a sheer black floral dress.
The collection was modelled by an all-star cast that included the likes of Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, Emily Ratajkowski, Imaan Hammam, Teddy Quinlivan and Freja Beha Erichsen.
According to Donatella,
“The Versace woman of today – she is always THAT woman. The one who is never afraid. She’s eclectic and refined at the same time – her boldness overstated. She is good at having restrained control as the silhouettes she wears are fitted, slinky and skin tight.”
The collection features uniquely vibrant designs; an artful mismatch of plaids and stripes in primary hues; sexy, figure-hugging dresses and plenty of shiny patent leather, ruched minis layered over long-sleeved mesh tops, neon evening gowns and wide flares, cropped tops and printed silk bandanas, mismatched floral earrings, clear totes, little floral charms that hung from belts and bags and more.
With camisoles over T-shirts and dresses, sneakers with party dresses, sheer fabric layered in between panels of thick silk and leather, the collection is sure to make you rethink your wardrobe choices.
