To celebrate Hip-Hop’s 50th anniversary, Mary J. Blige has launched an earring collection with her friend and jewelry designer, Simone I. Smith. Their capsule collection features two limited-edition large gold hoop designs, inscribed with “Fly Girl” and “Hip-Hop,” that retail for $399. The collection dropped on August 11, which was National Hip-Hop Day. For the R&B artiste, this collaboration is a nod to Hip-Hop and its achievements, as well as her lasting friendship with Smith. “Simone is my sister, so creating Sister Love just felt like us having an opportunity to create something that celebrates our sisterhood and the sisterhood of women around the world,” she said.

“When the idea came up for a collection celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, it was another chance to create a collection that marked an important milestone in my life and in our culture.” The collection is also a tribute to classic street fashion that inspired countless music videos from the 90s, including today’s generation.

Close friends and family of Ayanda Thabethe donned white at the media personality’s snowflake-themed baby shower. Taking to Instagram, Thabethe gave her followers a glimpse into her celebration and revealed she’s expecting a baby boy. “My baby shower felt like something out of a fairytale. My little snowflake is on the way and we can’t wait to meet our little king,” she wrote.

This comes after the media personality took to her Instagram timeline in July to announce she was expecting her second baby. Ayanda has a one-year-old son with businessman Peter Matsimbe and has kept their child’s identity off social media as she prefers to lead a private life.

4. Actor Ron Cephas Jones passes away

Beloved character actor Ron Cephas Jones has died at 66. A representative for the Emmy Award-winner said in a statement that Jones died “due to a long-standing pulmonary issue.” “Throughout the course of his career, his warmth, beauty, generosity, kindness, and heart were felt by anyone who had the good fortune of knowing him,” the statement reads.

“He began his career at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and his love for the stage was present throughout his entire career, including his recent Tony-nominated and Drama Desk Award-winning performance for his role in Clyde’s on Broadway. Ron’s inner beauty and soul was evident to the huge audience from his multi-Emmy award-winning performance on This is Us. He is survived by his daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones.”

Our condolences go out to his friends and family.

5. Spain win historic FIFA Women’s World Cup final against England

Spain defeated England 1-0 in the Women’s World Cup final on Sunday, capping off a tournament that has broken attendance and TV records and raised hopes of a surge in interest for the women’s game. Co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, the ninth edition of the global showpiece event was the first to be held in the southern hemisphere. While local interest ebbed when Australia exited in the semi-finals, just shy of two million fans will have passed through the gates in nine host cities after Sunday’s final crowd of 75,784 is added to the tally.

An Olga Carmona goal was the difference between the two sides in a pulsating game that saw Spain create the majority of the clear-cut chances. “We suffered, it was a difficult match (but) we always thought we were going to make it,” Carmona, who was also named player of the match, said. La Roja were rocked by a locker room dispute between the squad and coach Jorge Vilda and the Spanish football federation, with some of their best players absent from the tournament as a result. England and Spain were both making their first appearance at a Women’s World Cup final, while England’s wait for a first trophy since the men’s tournament in 1966 goes on.
