The word “basic” was certainly not on celebs’ minds last week. The Met gala red carpet was filled with opulent and extravagant silhouettes as invited A-listers celebrated the influence of Karl Lagerfeld in fashion. Sporting events also saw the best of the best casual fits worn by our faves, as if challenging the red carpet to a duel. In all, the best-dressed men gravitated towards designs that featured dapper cuts and opulent finishes, both of which popped on camera and attracted the paparazzi. Male Celebrities Met Gala
The Looks
NBA pro Shai Gilgeous Alexander attended his first Met Gala following the theme to the T. Decked in Thom Browne from head to toe, the basketball player wore three layers of tweed black and white jackets of varying lengths over a formal fit. For shoes, he opted for boots. Alexander further accessorized with black sunglasses and pearl necklaces, paying homage to Karl Lagerfeld’s love for heavy accessorizing.
Bold hues especially stood out: representing Daniel Lee’s Burberry, singer Burna Boy wore a deconstructed top over a mesh vest and cargo slacks, all bearing on Burberry’s newly launched checkered print and colorway. What stood out to us in the outfit were the rosette and the train. With this look, the African Giant reimagined formal wear. Male Celebrities Met Gala
Dazzling leather pieces also proved to be a red-carpet item last week. Ex-NBA star Dwyane Wade continued his fashionable red carpet streak in a head-to-toe Prada outfit that commanded attention at the Met Gala. The philanthropist graced the step and repeat wearing a black collarless trench coat over a black leather vest and a pair of black pants. He completed the matrix-inspired ensemble with black leather boots and black leather Prada gloves. He truly hasn’t met a red carpet he cannot handle.
The Miami weather wasn’t the only thing that was hot last week. Formula 1 racer Lewis Hamilton breezed into the city for the Miami Grand Prix in his hot pink get-up which turned heads. The racer wore a Tommy Hilfiger oversized shirt over a pair of Collin Astrada cargo pants. For shoes, he went with a pair of Puma sneakers and accessorized with Louis Vuitton sunglasses.
