s we gradually near the end of the year, Black women stay serving makeup inspiration looks that are spectacular in every way. Week after week, we excitingly curate the best beauty looks and these women raise the bar every single time that it’s almost impossible to keep up! Of course, this week followed suit as we were graced with an array of options each unmistakenly unique and undeniably sensational.
While some opted for dainty looks, others rode the full glam route. Think of an unexpected pop of color, graceful contors and even bewitching lashes. The hairstyles also came out to play in varying lengths, textures and colors. From faux locs, to face-framing bobs, and wavy delights, last week was indeed a hit.
The Looks
When African beauty and photography collide, art is born. This was the case with fashion model, Nyakim Gatwech and photographer, Essien Akan who both delivered breathtaking imagery. The focal point of this look is Gatwech’s glittering black skin which is complemented with a dust of gold shadow across her eyelids as well as brow bone. The bold, regal aura this look commands is certainly one to personally experience.
Another show-worthy look from last week is that of Maya Alena who embraced thick brows in all their glory. The beauty director of InStyle Magazine showed up for the InStyle Awards in full glam. From her brows to lashes, and the gentle pop of lippie, it’s no surprise she sits at the helm of beauty affairs at InStyle. If thick brows are your forte, then Alena’s naturally-filled brows should serve as a great makeup inspiration look for you.
Hair
Although we saw a variety of hairstyles last week, faux locs were a dominant theme. From blacks to browns and blonde hues, everyone seemed to have caught the fever. Proving this, Nollywood’s Beverly Naya and influencer Sharon I took a personal spin on the hairstyle and the effect was stunning. While Naya chose a black hip-length option, Sharon found love in hues of brown.
