Your Lingerie deserves some Love. Lingerie storage ideas
Having your lingerie collection stored neatly keeps everything accessible for those days you want that extra oompf, or on special occasions. Typically, lingerie is made from more luxury fabrics (think lace and silk) than your regular underwear so taking excellent care of your collection will help them last longer. Organize the contents of your lingerie drawer so they look not only pretty on you but also pretty in their space. This will inspire you to actually use them more often. Here are 7 ways to keep your lingerie organized and sitting pretty…
#1. Declutter
Lay out all your lingerie and edit out items that are worn, ripped, discolored, stretched, outdated and do not fit. If your pieces still have the tags on and have never been worn, consider giving them away or donating them.
#2. Then Sort
Now that you are left with the lingerie you love and want to wear again, you can begin to sort them. As we always say here at Style Rave, everyone has their own preference when it comes to organizing, so pick the one that best represents your style. You can store your lingerie by color, type, frequency of use, length or even season. You can also choose to organize by sets. Now, where can you store your lingerie?
#3. The Closet
If you have the space, the closet is the best place to hang your lingerie. Use non-slip hangers as most lingerie is made of slippery material. Using hangers with strap slots will give your pieces some added protection. You can hang bustiers and strapless lingerie with skirt hangers in your closet. Make sure your lingerie cannot be crushed so give some distance between them and the rest of your heavier clothing in your closet.
#4. Lingerie Organizer
Fold or roll your lingerie inside a fabric organizer to avoid snagging instead of stacking your items one on top of the other, file them, one in front of the other. This helps to ensure that they won’t get messed up when you take an item out the pile. Bonus advantage is you will now be able to view all your pretty chemises and corsets at one glance. Move over, lingerie store employees!
Place organizer on a shelf or in a drawer. Fabric lined baskets and bins also do the trick––be creative and make your set up look très chic.
#5. Drawer
Using a shallow drawer works best in this instance to fold (or roll!) and store your luxury underthings. Use drawer dividers to keep everything in place. Line some pretty fabric or wallpaper in a chic pattern in the bottom of the drawers to protect your items. You can also make use of fabric-lined baskets or a honeycomb organizer to keep everything in place within the drawers.
#6. Travel
Planning a getaway? Use a lingerie bag or any fabric lined bag to pack your lingerie to avoid accidentally ripping or zipping your delicate items.
#7. Scents and Smells
Whatever storage space you use, keep it smelling amazing by tucking in little sachets of potpourri (lavender, anyone?) or spritzing a sachet with your favorite perfume. The result: beautifully-scented lingerie!
The next time you want a confidence boost or you are planning a romantic night with your special someone (yes, it counts if that special someone is also you), open up your drawer.
