1. Lenny Kravitz honored with Hollywood Walk of Fame star

The Hollywood Walk of Fame now recognizes Lenny Kravitz. A ceremony was held on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the iconic Capitol Records Tower on March 12 to honor the “Fly Away” hitmaker. This took place in the presence of family, friends, and well-wishers, including his daughter, filmmaker Zoë Kravitz, and legendary actor, Denzel Washington

Speaking at the event, Zoë celebrated her dad and even made a joke about his famous see-through shirts. “Lenny Kravitz, I’ve had the pleasure of knowing you for a long time,” she began. “And I must say, being your daughter has been one of the great adventures of my life.” “I’ve seen the way you show up, take care of the people you love. I’ve seen your incredible dedication to your art, but mostly, I’ve seen through your shirts.” “According to my dad, if it doesn’t expose your nipples, it’s not a shirt,” she joked.

Academy Award winner Denzel Washington also took the stage to honor the iconic musician. “He’s more than a friend, he’s more than a brother,” Washington said. “We’re twins, we just don’t look alike. We’ve had a close brothership, friendship … for 30 years.”

As Lenny Kravitz was presented with the 2774th star on the Walk of Fame, he called it an “incredible honor” and said that having his daughter and Washington there “means the world to me.”

Congratulations to the iconic rock star!

2. Celine launches beauty line

Celine is launching a beauty line, the first in its nearly eight decades of existence. This announcement was made at artistic and image director Hedi Slimane’s ‘La Collection de l’Arc de Triomphe’ presentation in Paris on Tuesday, March 12. Named Celine Beauté, the line will launch this autumn with a single shade of lipstick, ‘Rouge Triomphe,’ before expanding in 2025 with 15 shades in total, including ‘La Peau Nue’ – a rosy nude that was worn by the models in the autumn/winter 2024 show.

Going forward, other than the lipsticks, new collections designed by Slimane will build on the Celine Beauté brand. One can expect lip balms, mascaras, eyeliners, powders, blush cases, and nail polishes.

In the wake of Dior and Chanel, Celine is the latest established fashion house to venture into the world of beauty. Back in August, Prada’s skincare and makeup line launched, with the U.S. debut taking place in January. Shortly after, Miu Miu announced it had signed a licensing deal with L’Oréal.

3. Beyoncé officially announces new album title as Act II: Cowboy Carter

On Tuesday, March 12, Beyoncé announced the title of her forthcoming country album as “Act II: Cowboy Carter.” The body of work, which is a follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2022 Renaissance album, will drop on March 29. The announcement was made via Queen Bey’s Instagram account, where she added the title and release date to her Instagram bio and posted a shot of a saddle with a red, white, and blue sash that reads “Cowboy Carter” on her Instagram Story.

4. Donald Trump and Joe Biden set for 2024 US election rematch

US President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump have both passed the delegate thresholds to clinch their parties’ nominations. They each won several states in primary elections on Tuesday to propel them over the finish line. The two 2020 contenders will provide the US with its first rematch in a presidential election in 70 years. The nominations will be made official at party conventions this summer.

Trump won Washington’s GOP primary Tuesday, putting him over the 1,215-delegate threshold needed to secure the nomination, after winning the Georgia and Mississippi primaries earlier Tuesday. On the other hand, Biden secured the Democratic nomination after winning Georgia’s Democratic primary Tuesday, exceeding the 1,968 delegates needed to win his party’s nomination.

Speaking on his victory, President Biden, 81, said on Tuesday evening that he was “honored” voters had backed his re-election bid “in a moment when the threat Trump poses is greater than ever.” Meanwhile, Mr. Trump, 77, remains very popular with the Republican voter base, which has propelled him to victory in primary after primary over well-funded rivals.

5. Novak Djokovic knocked out of BNP Paribas Open by Luca Nardi

World number one Novak Djokovic was stunned 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 by “lucky loser” Luca Nardi in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells on Monday, a victory that the 20-year-old Italian described as a “miracle.” Nardi, who grew up idolizing Djokovic and is ranked 123rd in the world, played the match of his life to defeat the Serbian, dropping his racket and putting his hands over his face after firing an ace out wide to seal the win. The defeat ends Djokovic’s bid for a record sixth title at the tournament in the California desert.

Nardi came out flying under the lights on center court, drawing Djokovic to the net with a short ball and then rifling a forehand past him for an early break and a 3-2 lead. Djokovic was well short of his best, and a service return from the 24-time Grand Slam champion found the net to hand Nardi the first set. The top seed broke Nardi twice in the second set and held at love to level the contest, but his opponent, who had a poster of Djokovic on his wall growing up, refused to back down. Nardi hit a backhand that Djokovic could not put back in play for a crucial break and a 4-2 advantage in the decider before pulling off the upset.

On Tuesday, Nardi lost to David Goffin in the qualifiers and only made the main draw after Tomas Etcheverry withdrew due to injury. Nardi will next face American Tommy Paul.
