1. Attorney releases text messages in actor Jonathan Majors’ assault case

An attorney for actor Jonathan Majors released text messages from his alleged accuser which apparently say he did not physically assault her. In a statement, lawyer Priya Chaudhry says Majors, 33, called 911 out of concern for the 30-year-old woman’s mental health on March 25. The attorney says seven and nine hours later, the woman sent messages saying she used physical force against the “Creed III” actor. In one message, the accuser said she told police this was not an attack and they do not have her blessing for any charges. She also said no strangulation occurred and Majors called because she collapsed and passed out.

Police sources did say Majors called 911 himself to report his concern about his girlfriend, with whom he lives. However, when police arrived, sources say the girlfriend told a different story — that she and Majors were in a cab on the way home from Brooklyn when he physically attacked her. Patrol officers noticed marks on the woman’s body, and they placed Majors under arrest. Majors was charged with strangulation, assault, and harassment. When asked about the text messages, the Manhattan District Attorney’s office says it is “still investigating.”

2. Davido confirms marriage to Chioma

Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has confirmed that he is married to his partner, Chioma Rowland. The singer confirmed this in an interview with media personality Kiekie on Wednesday, March 29. According to Davido, he took a break from social media after he lost his son, Ifeanyi, because he needed time to reflect. It was during this period that he finally married Chioma.

According to him, “I have never ever taken this kind of break. Just being away and I have had a lot to think about. It was a time to rest, reflect, a lot of family time, time to make music again. I remade the album. Before I went on the break I actually had an album already. Had a tour already, but we did the album, I travelled, I am married.” Davido’s words are a confirmation of already-growing rumors that he and Chioma are officially married.

3. Trevor Noah to host Amazon’s first South African original

Comedian Trevor Noah has secured his first big project since leaving “The Daily Show.” According to reports, the South African-born comedian is set to host Amazon’s first SA original, a remake of its “LOL: Last One Laughing” franchise. The series will air next year and see Trevor pit 10 famous South African comedians and entertainers against one another to see who can keep a straight face while simultaneously trying to make their opponents laugh. It’s a competition for a prize of R1m, which goes to the winner’s charity of choice.

“I’m excited to be back home to host Prime Video’s first South African original, LOL: Last One Laughing, and to have a chance to connect with my home audience,” Trevor was quoted as saying. “I am equally delighted for the opportunity to be working alongside my fellow home-grown comedy stars on a show that not only entertains but gives back to the South African production and charity communities.”

4. Tory Lanez files to appeal Megan Thee Stallion shooting conviction

Tory Lanez has filed a motion seeking a new trial after being found guilty in December of shooting Megan Thee Stallion. He currently faces more than 20 years in prison for felony weapons and charges, according to reports. Lanez’s attorney, Jose Baez, reportedly claims jurors were “erroneously allowed” to view an Instagram comment that appears to show Lanez writing that Megan’s former friend Kelsey Harris wasn’t the shooter.

Lanez, who later claimed that Harris was responsible for the shooting, also filed a declaration from his content creator, Joshua Farias, claiming he was behind the social media comment.

5. Chaos at Tottenham as Fabio Paratici’s 30-month ban made global by FIFA

Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici has seen his 30-month ban extended worldwide at a time when Spurs are searching for a new manager. Paratici, who linked up with Spurs in 2021, was banned for 30 months in January after a long-running investigation that also saw Juventus docked 15 points for financial irregularities. Paratici was one of a whole host of former and current Juventus executives to receive punishment after a hearing at the federal court of appeal. The ban initially applied only to Italian football but has now been extended worldwide, meaning Paratici may have to step down from his role at Tottenham.

Paratici cannot currently conduct any transfer activity directly but will still be able to work internally at Tottenham, according to reports. The extended ban comes at a time when Tottenham are searching for a replacement for manager Antonio Conte after parting ways with the Italian. Cristian Stellini will take charge of the team for the rest of the season along with Ryan Mason.
